Faria: Wilson and the #Jets second offense on the move. Good completion to Gipson and good protection. It’s such a stark difference as opposed to what Rodgers deals with.
That's why I posted Sabo's tweet. I'm not gonna tell anyone how they should feel about the OL situation but the context has to be taken into consideration with those struggles.
Rosenblatt: Mekhi Becton is looking ok against the Bucs backup D-Line. @NYJets_Media: Drive the field drill Jets 2nd team offense: Zach Wilson keeps it on a read option a runs for a few yards on 1st down On 2nd down he goes threw his progressions to find Gipson for the 1st down Next play another rifle to Gipson for a gain of 12 yards and a first down All out blitz on next play and missed the throw to Brownlee down the left sideline on 1st down. 2nd & 10: free rusher off the edge and Zach threw it quick to Bam for a gain of a few yards 3rd & 7: Zach Wilson tried to scramble away for the 1st down but he was called down on a sack End of drill. #Jets Practice is over. #Jets
my problem with this take from Sabo “OL can only be evaluated during live games” is that when they do have actual live games the first team is on the sideline in baseball caps
Faria: #Jets practice is over. - calls for Mekhi Becton grow..and for good reason - Changes need to be made immediately along the OL - Rodgers and Wilson in 7v7 were fantastic - Garrett Wilson - still good. Would call this practice a draw overall but for a team with SB aspirations, not exactly a good outcome. This offense needs to get better.
Felt like McGovern, Tomlinson, and AVT started against Carolina last weekend and played for a couple of series, right? IMO, for the most part, the OL looked good all game against Carolina. Again, not saying there isn't anything to worry about on the OL but I'm also not gonna lose it because they struggled today against a solid Bucs front without 3 starters (Brown, Laken, AVT).
Vera-Tucker didn’t play in the Panthers game McGovern and Tomlinson got only 18 snaps against the Panthers backups there are opportunities, like today and supposed to be tommorrow, to face live action and they aren’t using it
Rosenblatt: Laken Tomlinson is day to day with “something going on with his leg”. #Jets Robert Saleh said Tony Oden is doing fine. Thinks he caught some friendly fire during one of the altercations. He was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. #Jets Robert Saleh said he’s hopeful Carl Lawson will return to practice next week. #Jets Robert Saleh on why Mekhi Becton isnt getting first team reps: Said they still need him to show he can play a full game before he can do that. “He’s moving in the right direction.” Said it wouldn’t be fair to everyone else to play someone who hasn’t proved he can play a whole game. #Jets Robert Saleh said Mekhi Becton should start getting some live reps at RT starting tomorrow. #Jets Robert Saleh on the possibility of Dalvin Cook being suspended: “At this moment, we’re not concerned.” Robert Saleh said the hope is Breece Hall can start working into team drills next week. #Jets
Thank you all for the inputs. Much appreciated. Seems than short of that awful interception by Zach both QBs did very well behind a patched up back up OL. But the trouble continues. While the assessment of OL performance seem highly inconsistent, the common thread in my mind is clearly not good enough. We keep moving and rotating positions like dominoes. I have no clue short of AVT who is going where anymore for certain. The left tackle starting job is a big wide open mystery.
Faria: Corey Davis is away due to personal reasons. Lawson (back) and AVT (ankle) are other updates. Lawson is expected back next week. #Jets
Qualifiers: - I wasn't there, nor did I watch any of this first hand. - I'm not an expert evaluator of OL play. With that said, it's alarming that we STILL don't have a dependable OL after all these years. We're told every year during T.C. "Don't worry, they have time to gel", and then we go into the season and the OL isn't set, and it only gets worse as the season unfolds. For all of the other great things Douglas has done, this failure is inexcusable. We can see clearly that when the OL does well, the offense does well - regardless of who's at QB. But it's too often and easily exposed and then the only thing that saves them is a future HOF QB with his years of experience making plays, and even then he often can't even do that. Don't panic? I'd say if Douglas & Co are NOT panicking they're detached from reality.
You're right, forgot no AVT last week. The Panthers DL unit they went up against were not backups. Derrick Brown had 13 snaps, Henry Anderson had 16, and Shy Tuttle had 12. Those are the 1's on the depth chart right now for Carolina.

Hughes: Robert Saleh (sorry) said Laken Tomlinson has “something going on with his leg” and is day-to-day. Said he’s not sure how OL performed because he was watching the defense. Tony Oden caught friendly fire in the skirmish and he’s in hospital. #Jets Robert Saleh said that Mekhi Becton needs to show the #Jets he can play a full game and be available before the #NYJ can give him first-team reps. They don’t believe it’s fair to others if they aren’t sure he can make it through a game. That’s why he’s not getting first-team reps. He did say Becton gets right tackle reps in the walkthrough. So he can play both sides and plan is to get him some live work at RT soon. Robert Saleh said he “thinks” Mekhi Becton is on board with playing right tackle. #Jets
Faria: Corey Davis is away due to personal reasons. Lawson (back) and AVT (ankle) are other updates. Lawson is expected back next week. #Jets “He needs to show he can play a game. It’s unfair to the team to prepare a guy to start if you don’t know if he’ll be able to make it a full game.” Saleh on Becton’s chances of moving with first team. #Jets Saleh says Becton has worked at RT in warm ups. Should expect to see him at practice on Monday. #Jets Saleh says he thinks Mekhi is on board with his potential move to RT. “If part of our best five is him at RT, I think he’s prepared.” Also says Becton is “so far ahead” from where he was at to start camp. #Jets
Cimini: Dalvin Cook will sign his contract, attend meetings and will go home to Florida this weekend for the birth of his first child. He will return next week. #Jets Saleh on why Becton doesn’t get any first-team reps given the struggles of the OL: “He can do it. It’s just a matter of being available.” Says Becton must prove he can get through a full game. May play RT next week, per Saleh. #jets
