Our OL looked fine when Breece (and AVT which I think was the same game) was healthy. Depth is the issue at OL but I think we’re more deep than last year.
Costello was saying this kills our cap space, so if a miracle happened and an O-Lineman was avialble in-season via trade, sad day for us. I thought I heard we had like $23 million, cook is roughly 8, so $15 right? If that’s true, that should be plenty, and that’s before was ask Davis to take a pay cut, or cut somebody, etc. Am I right that we have $, or is he right that we’re just about out of $? Not that it’ll matter, very rare a good O-Lineman is available
The timing is interesting. I assumed a Cook signing would be to allow Hall more time to be fully recovered, possibly even begin the season on IR to prevent a premature cut-down of one of the younger backs, then possibly try to trade one of the younger backs when Hall comes back off IR. However, neither Hall nor Cook is actually "available" now. Does not seem like the FO and coaches are that satisfied with Carter, Bam, and the rookie. It will be interesting to see who gets cut and who may clear waivers and make the practice squad.
Yes, Bawden is a much better blocker than Bam, but he should be, as that's pretty much the only reason he should be on the roster as a FB He might be a pretty good receiver out of the backfield, but he useless as a RB, and a wasted roster spot otherwise. I don't consider Bawden to be a RB. I was speaking strictly between Bam, Carter, Izzy and maybe Hall (in terms of blocking).
There is not enough sample size to declare Bam Knight a "good blocker." I read somewhere once that he was only on the field in a pass blocking situation something like 16 snaps. So 16 times in his professional career he has had to block someone, talk to me when he's done it more than that Dalvin Cook is not known for his blocking for sure, its a bit of a weakness and he's not here for his blocking.... but at least he's done it hundred(s) of times
I don't support the signing of Dalvin Cook b/c he is a major character risk. It's a bad move in my opinion.
I got to think JD will make/attempt to make a trade in the next two weeks. We got truckloads of quality RBs, TEs, and edge rushers. I know quality OL depth is hard to acquire. Hoping he makes a move to upgrade the OL via trade or maybe just get a few future mid-late round picks. Other teams probably know, however, the jets may have to cut a few of these guys and may wait to submit waiver claim rather than fork over a pick or two.
Based on the allegations of him beating women. I'm surprised you hadn't heard of this. That said, Saleh said they were comfortable with him and he's never been convicted of the alleged crimes.
Of course I heard of it. My point is they are allegations, not facts. If they shake out to be facts then yea I'd like for Cook to be cut and live a miserable life from here on out. But until then it certainly doesn't seem like there's enough there to be concerned about his character in relation to the team.
He's had a bad character rap since he came out of college, and there have been at least a couple of incidents since then.
