The idea that he foresees a long term partnership and he did it for that reason. Do you really think Rodgers is sticking around if they miss the playoffs? Or at least doesn’t hee-haw around in the off-season as to if he still wants to play?

Last year year he was 3700 26:12 with a broken thumb on his throwing hand. That was 12th in yards and 7th in passing TDs. If that turns into 4000 32:9 we are jumping for fucking joy.

He didn’t really help the team all too much this year. There’s not much that cap space can do to improve the team minus adding some minimally impactful vets that no one wanted to sign before training camp. And my point is that if he retires after this year it helped the team very little. His quotes about it made it seem like he’s going to be here for a while. Hope it’s true but I’ll believe it when I see it.
The whole time I was wondering what his deal was, like why the loyalty to the Jets? Anyway, I saw those rumors Rodgers wants an ownership slice then it made more sense. I think he doesnt care win or lose, he will be here a couple years then become a minority owner. Maybe Woody made that promise during their california visit

I thought they would try and roll as much money of his deal into this year against the cap if I'm being honest. Free up the deadcap down the line. I guess they are expecting such an astronomical jump in the cap with the new TV deals? Idk.

If he retires after this year, his cap hit is zero. You’re discrediting that as a potential outcome. It didn’t help us as much as it could’ve if he did it as soon as we got him. There’s not much left out there to add at this point. I’m not really trying to go down this path of any discussion about the team that isn’t a fucking rainbow warrants a post from someone complaining that it’s not a fucking rainbow. We did this during three years of Zach Wilson including the six months prior to drafting him and it made a lot of people look dumb.
So far, Rodgers has produced nothing for the Jets but a lot of talk. Can we at least wait until the frost is on the pumpkins and the turkeys are on the tables before declaring victory either way?

The thing is, during the offseason when everything is going well then everyone is great. But how do we act when we face adversity in December? That's when you meet the real team, and its anybodies guess how the team and Rodgers will play out.
