The guy we might consider pursuing, based on what we see of him the rest of the way, is Tully Banta Cain from New England. He has several years in the system, can play multiple roles, and is three years younger. He could turn out to be the type of pickup Mike Vrabel was for the Patriots a few years back, and would come at a fraction of the price.

yeah, you're right, what's the point of drafting anyone? may as well trade away the picks and just sign Free Agents. you don't know with ANY players you draft.

    cheers

we need a proven LB and instead of bringing in adalius thomas who's been a top3 LB the past 2 years you'd rather draft a rookie DE? because obviously he will be as good as adalius thomas (duh!)? :rofl2:

    stop playing madden :)

I've heard New England fans bash him, saying he's way too slow, and things like that. I'm not sure if he's the answer, just because he had a good game against us.

The only way the Jets pick ahead of NE is if Seattle makes the Superbowl..Or if the Jets trade up..

I think Woodley can be a dominate LB for the Jets now, just like Vilma was when he was a rookie.

Of course he can. He will also make the Pro Bowl, then the hall of fame as a rookie and then he will retire as the best LB in the history of the NFL. Dream on.

I would love for the Jets to get Adalius Thomas but if we can't then Woodley would be the perfect fit into Mangini's system.

I agree but i dont think Woodley will have a big impact as a rookie. Some team will probably pick him up in the 2nd or 3rd round to be their pass rusher on 3rd downs. I dont expect him to get a lot of playing time as a LB.

Well your comments have been extremely dumb in this post. Somebody said that like Woodley would be good or something and you mock him saying "Yeah, Woodley will make the superbowl as a rookie, la la la" and dumb stuff like that. And then the last comment that "some team will probably pick him up in the 2nd or 3rd round to be their pass rusher on 3rd downs. I dont expect him to get a lot of playing time as a LB," was just horribly stupid. Just because YOU don't think he will be better than Adalius Thomas does not mean his first round potential is just going to completely dissapear and all of a sudden, since he isn't better than Adalius Thomas, he will be a 3rd round draft pick. That doesn't friken happen. He is an expected top 25 pick, there is no reason in the absolute universe for you to say that you just think he will be a 3rd round pick. Do you know anything about football at all?

stop trying. don't you know he's the smartest football fan in the history of Western Civilization. you're way below him. that's why he rejects ANYTHING that he doesn't agree with

by the way, whatever you do, just don't tell him Dewayne Robertson isn't the best DT in the league.

    cheers

    1) He will go somewhere between the first and the fourth round (depends on his combine results). He is slow, he doesnt move like a linebacker, he cant cover and he cant play the run yet. You think some teams would waste their 1st pick on a guy like that? Put your crackpipe down. Did you know ~90% of the teams in the NFL dont even run the 3-4 defense anymore? Of course you didnt. Madden wont tell you stuff like that.

    2) If he screws up at the combine, he will DEFENITELY drop to the 3rd or 4th round. If he shows fluid hips and 4.5 speed, he could go in the first round. Sure. Heck he could be the 1st ovr pick if he runs the 40 in 2.1 seconds. But thats not going to happen, we all know that. Well except for the two Woodley lovers in here.

    3) Stop with the Adalius Thomas comparisons. The only thing they've in common is that they've played college football. Thats it. Adalius didnt ran a 4.8. He wasnt 6'1, 280 when he came out of college. And the most important thing: he was a situational pass rusher for 5 seasons i believe. Sorry to burst you bubble, kiddo. :)

wow, you're really going out on a limb saying, "he'll get picked somewhere between the first and fourth rounds."

at this point, i don't care if we get Woodley or Spencer. i've been reading up on Spencer and he looks like he may be even better at pass-rushing than Woodley.

as for you, i don't know who you have a bigger hard-on for: Adalius Thomas or Dewayne Robertson.

    cheers

The patriots got the Seahawks 1st rounder, the Jets are out and the Seahawks are in, meaning that we pick before the Patriots two 1st round picks.

    1) No i'm not. Nobody (=a team with a 3-4 defense) is going to waste a 1st or 2nd rounder on a DE who cant even play OLB. He should just play DE for a 4-3 defense (see Darryl Tapp), that way he would be a 2nd round pick, no matter how he performs at the combine.

    2) Hard-on? Huh? Thomas is the best (O)LB in the NFL. Hands down. He's a terrific pass rusher, he's terrific in coverage and he's terrific against the run. As for Robertson: He's a good player. Could be a Pro Bowler in a cover 2 defense. If you think i fell in love with him because of that. Fine.

    actually, i was being sarcastic.

look, Parcells took Demarcus Ware and turned him into an awesome weapon in the 3-4. the same can be done with Woodley. i'm still coming around to Spencer, who looks like he has the tools to flourish in our system.

Thomas being the best OLB in the NFL is debatable. but you portray it as Thomas or bust for the Jets. there are other options which may work just as well.

    cheers
