So he's going to go from barely playable to a competent starting deep threat because he changed teams? I'm sure Stephen Hill would have thrived in San Diego replacing Malcolm Floyd too.

Even though it's late and he doesn't know their offense, he has a good shot if he has his head on straight. Detroit lost 3 WRs over the offseason to gambling. They released two of them and I think the third is suspended for 6 games. If he sulks and pouts there, his NFL career is over.

I am really starting to agree with this. MLF totally mishandled Mims and set up the situation, but Mims could have responded in a very different fashion and didn't. He sulked and pouted, allowed it to affect his play when he did get a chance to play, and basically set the Jets against him. Skipping OTAs was the final straw. Once the Jets saw how Brownlee, Gipson, Kapp and the other young WRs looked in OTAs, their mind was made up.

Sometimes a change of scenery helps players. They do a reset of their attitude and things work out. With Detroit losing 3 WRs this offseason, he has a chance to make their roster if he works hard and shows anything. If he can't make Detroit then his NFL career is probably over.

He definitely has a chance to make the roster because the roster is depleted. That doesn't mean he's going to step in and be a viable deep threat.

Agreed, but he has the talent to do so it he can pull his head out of his ass.

Mims may or may not be a head case - but he's a head case with talent.

His first year with us he had 23 catches for 357 yards in 8 starts as a rookie. Since the regime change he's only had 7 starts and 19 catches. Somewhere along the line, LeFluer, Zach, himself, whatever, his development went astray. It wouldn't be a huge feat for a wide open offense like Detroit to get his development back on track and have him playing up to his talent level. It wouldn't surprise me to see a WR in Detroit that we never saw here in NY.

I think there is a very strong possibility Mims is just not a very good NFL player period, in spite of decent College career and his athletics gifts. Maybe good enough to be #4/5 receiver for WR needy teams with no depth and hang onto the end of an NFL roster, but no more than that. JD and Gase just didn't make a good team when it came to draft. We cannot blame it fully on Gase, but things have improved significantly with JD paired with Saleh.

I definitely agree that Daboll would have been a better pick for a HC by JD, but unfortunately nothing that we can do about it now. Hopefully with Rodgers and Hack, offense will finally come together this year.

I'm more and more coming to that point with Mims. I think he's not very bright, at least in terms to how he handles and reacts to things. Perhaps he doesn't really love football and really want an NFL career. It's puzzling. He certainly has the talent, but maybe not the heart and the right mindset.

    Should probably have written /s

I for one do not know how we can replace his output over the past three years. Didn't even Clyde Gates score a TD for us?

I don't think Mims is any good, but the reason he never got to play is because the coaching staff was bent out of shape that he didn't want to be on special teams.

That or maybe he was awful at running routes and hanging onto the ball.

It's a conditional 7th that becomes a 6th if Denzel has 100 receptions for 1000 yards, and is named SB MVP ;)

No. But we can because he sucked when he was here. It's not like this is the first time anyone has been critical of him. Far from it.

It was not Mims’ fault the GREAT Joe Douglas took him in the 2nd round

lay the blame where it’s deserved

Him being drafted in the second round is why he sucked? I'm not seeing the correlation. It's not like he was decent and not great. He was pretty much awful. The guy had a 2nd round grade on him. Some even initially had him as a first rounder.
