Anything that happened while Adam Gase was the head coach can be completely wiped from the record books as far as I'm concerned. A monumentally terrible decision that set the franchise back decades. Mims fell to the late second round despite having a first round grade for a reason. He was hurt, and sick, and also just flat out not good at his job. A lot of outside factors come into play here but the bottom line is when he was given opportunities, he was probably called for holding. Super talented guy that just can't get right. Hopefully he thrives elsewhere, just not in the AFC.
ugh, another example of the NYJ not being able to evaluate and/or develop their own talent. Why now would be my main question? AR is going to very soon question what he got himself involved with, i predict.
I had never been more despondent as a Jets fan in my life during that time period. I flat out didn't watch some games which I don't think I've willingly done since the mid-90s. I know the years exist and they should be counted along with many of the Jets failures, but to me it's a blank space.
To Mims credit his handwork and hanging on to the ball improved dramatically. I was hoping he would be our next Cotchery. Oh, well. . . but he will be Cotchery somewhere else, that's a given, ha.
This is a real head scratcher. If you wanted to give him a chance to make the roster you invite him to camp and let him fight for it. If you want to be the "nice guys" and let him find work elsewhere you release him in March/April when everyone is a free agent. To cut him loose on the eve of camp? I gotta wonder what's going on there
Going to assume they tried to trade him and now that there’s a week til every other team opens camp, they are going to release him.
I read somewhere that the Jets didn't want to do a veteran cut thing at camp because Hard Knocks would use it to create drama.
Sheesh. What an awful draft pick. Recent Jets 2nd round WR picks across mulitple FOs has been just terrible. 2021- Moore 2020- Mims 2015 – WR Devin Smith 2014 – TE Jace Amaro** TE but drafted as a pass catching threat with gaudy college numbers 2012 – WR Stephen Hill
the Jets gotta get over themselves, people are cut, its part of the job. Most grown men can handle it
Kind of odd to cut this high of a pick before you see what he’s able to do with a real qb in camp and preseason. I’d think you’d want to at least see if there’s any difference first.
