That pompous buffoon has the most playoff wins of any coach in Jets history.

That's only because our history has been such a dumpster fire with horrible drafting and horrible hires of GMs and HCs. With the exception of maybe 5-10 years Leon Hess since started buying out his partners in 1968 when Leon Hess bought out Sonny Werblin (then Iselin in 1977, Martin in 1981, and in 1984 became the sole owner, the team has been an embarrassment and a joke.

Here is a list of the "illustrious" HCs the team has had since Weeb Ewbank:

    Charley Winner 9-14
    Ken Shipp 1-4
    Lou Holtz 3-10
    Mike Holovak 0-1
    Walt Michaels 39-47
    Joe Walton 53-57
    Bruce Coslet 26-38
    Pete Carroll 6-10
    Rich Kotite 4-28
    Bill Parcells 29-19
    Al Groh 9-7
    Herman Edwards 39-41
    Eric Mangini 23-25
    Rex Ryan 46-50
    Todd Bowles 24-40
    Adam Gase 9-23
    Robert Saleh 11-23

When the team has only had 2 coaches in its entire history with winning records, and even the one HC that got us to and won a SB, Weeb Ewbank didn't even have a winning record. Ryan didn't have a winning record overall, either. It's hard to win when you have a clueless owner who keeps hiring incompetent boobs as GMs who couldn't draft, who in turn hired clueless idiots as HCs who kept changing schemes, resulting in having to turn over the roster time after time. In our history, only Ewbank, Michaels, and Parcells were good HCs. Michaels self-destructed with his drinking. Parcells was an ass who only cared about himself. Mangini was a good coach, but self destructed by being too strict, too uptight. Ryan took over a solid, veteran-led team with great chemistry, and dismantled it and ran it into the ground with his foolishness.

None of that diminishes what Rex did in '09/'10...
In fact it makes it all the more remarkable.

Always remember... fandom is optional... ;)

I disagree. Rex received the benefit of the bump or lift that "players' coaches" frequently get for a year or when they replace a strict disciplinarian. He did introduce a couple of wrinkles in the Jets' defense that made it better, but once opposing teams figured that out, he had nothing. He was lazy and made no effort to become a complete HC, and he was an embarrassment and ass clown. He got rid of the veteran leadership, helped dismantle the team, and provided no leadership himself. If we had hired a decent HC, the team probably would have had better than two really good years. That was one of the few times that we had had good drafting and had solid, smart, disciplined football players that didn't beat themselves. Parcells built that foundation and Mangini continued it until he lost the team.

It used to be considered inhumane to be drafted by the Jets...

We should leak some BS fake cadence in training camp so the cheaters can get totally fucked up. This season biggest success should be beating them twice and keeping them out of the playoffs so we can watch them on hard knocks next year, if so inclined.

Will McDonald signed. Tippman expected to sign today. Q signed last week. No negative storylines going into this season for HBO to harp on. Good stuff.

Depending on how things play out, Hard Knocks could make TGG like 10 times as interesting this year.
