I was just coming to post this after I came up empty! I tried to find the one KOZ posted ages ago with no luck, probably got lost in a past crash. Agreed @typeOnegative13NY !!! That place was a literal dumping ground for bodies and my money says that unrelated killers were availing themselves without direct or even indirect knowledge of each other. That doesn't mean that a couple of them didn't act in concert. "Well, other dead sex workers have been dumped here for years without detection so I may as well." Bank it. No way this was a one man show. People are going to immediately rush to point to Gary Ridgeway (The Green River Killer) who was convicted of 49 murders and is suspected of 71-90+, but I'm not feeling that one POS psycho is it on this one.
Seems they are only officially connecting him to 3 . I still think there was something else going on in oak beach of the high society type. That Shannon Gilbert 9-11 told the story of something very different than one guy .
I always thought law enforcement was involved somehow, but I don't really think that anymore. Not what I think but what I know for sure was that police at the time didn't really give enough of a shit to care about a bunch of dead prostitutes. That really is the truth of it. It wasn't until the families of the victims started really putting some heat on them that newer detectives took pity on the families of the dead women. Some cops took it very personally, which is what you need. When I say took it personally they looked at them as people - meaning the murdered women - which they were, and that's how it should be. I'm willing to bet there are more human remains there than we'll ever know. Leaving the bodies in relatively plain view shows a high level of arrogance. He stopped burying them, but somebody else was also continuing to do so. At least that's what I think.
I still think that there could have been some cops ,or atleast one high ranking one involved. They blocked the fbi from helping and did some shady shit early in the investigation.
Not really weird if the wife was ever in his vehicle. Also reported that the wife was known to be out of state or the country when the disappearances took plaace, meaning he may have taken the victims home.
Sunday afternoon or evening Suffolk Police executed a search warrant at a self storage facility in Amityville about two miles from Heuermann's house in connection with the Gilgo case. It will be interesting to find out how long Heuermann has had the storage unit. The police seem to be taking his house apart piece by piece - an investigator was seen carrying out what looked to be an almost whole sheet of drywall from the house in the background of a news shot Sunday evening and there's a photo of a guy taking out about a three foot square framed picture of a fighter jet and a large cat tree. I would suspect a large part of the investigation at the house is in trying to determine if any of the victims were ever there but with the house reported as resembling a hoarder situation that could take a long, long time.
This is getting very interesting. There could a lot of things they're searching for. 1. Remember the cops are working closely with profilers, and the profilers may be telling them the types of things that a guy who would do something like this might have kept. The most obvious are trophies from the victims like an item of clothing, a lock of hair or something more macabre. They could also be looking to see if this guy kept a scrapbook of news stories about this case. They also might be looking for the murder weapon. 2. They may be looking for hair or fibers to link him to the victims he's charged with killing or with other uncharged victims. It could be to place one or more of the victims in his house or it could be something on a trophy that would strengthen his connection to a victim. But geez, these crimes happened a long time ago. What are the chances anything is still there, even if the place is a pig sty? Then again, maybe he's the type of guy who hasn't thrown anything out in 30 years. If I'm the prosecutor, here's what would worry be about these extensive searches. Assume the police seize 200 items but none proves to be of evidential value. Imagine what the defense attorney would do to the police witnesses at trial: Defense attorney: I show you what's been marked D-1 for identification, did you seize this from the defendant's home on or about July 16, 2023? Cop: Yes we did. Defense attorney: Did later laboratory analysis show that this item contained anything of evidential value? Cop: No, it didn't. Now imagine the defense attorney doing that another 199 times. What would the jury think?
Just my opinion, but I don’t think they will find anything belonging to the victims , unless it was something not intended. I think the type of killer he is (alegedly) is the opposite of the type that wants to feel some type of closeness to the victim. I think he sees them as of no value.
havent followed this that closely but the guy at work said they used a half-eaten slice of pizza in the garbage at his house to test for DNA and it was a match lol another reason why you should always finish your slice
I didn't catch the forensics guy's name but I was watching some true crime thing over a year ago and said forensics guy gets blowback and resistance from the status quo about this: As much as profiling has caught many a killer, his educated opinion is that by sticking to certain strictures, protocol, and parameters, a shit ton of serial killers are falling between the cracks. Why? Because investigators become unwavering and inflexible that murders are unconnected when indeed they are. This guy's thinking - which I agree with - is that often enough when the killing becomes prolific enough, they change their game. They change their method of killing, their choice of victim, and change up their signature at random and at will. Those are the super smart ones who may appear to be sloppy, but see now it doesn't add up to be the same killer. I concur. Tunnel vision has become a problem. However, in this case, I do think it's more than one person but not because the signatures vary. We'll see if Heuermann starts singing like a canary because now that he's apprehended he might like basking in the glory but seriously fck with law enforcement for self-gratification.
