I have zero idea what the rules are in regards to something like this but from what I have read from others who supposedly are in the know are that they can't confirm anything based on the sound of an implosion. They apparently need visual confirmation which they found with the debris field.

Someone explained the banging as it's possible it was caused by debris banging in to each other, as one person put it "there is a lot of junk in the ocean"

I think your last statement is probably the most accurate, some people said it happened in milliseconds and was caused by the oxygen tanks. So fast it's beyond the reaction time of any human being so if that's the case these people had zero idea what was happening. Unless of course they knew they were sinking too fast to be able to recover. Then you knew it was coming just not knowing when

Well as one former passenger of a similar submersible described - the whole descent is a massive free fall because they conserve energy and fuel on the way down. The thing sinks like an anchor until they get relatively close at which point they kick the propellers and electricity on.

I thought that too about the banging sounds. Forget any sort of debris, we have no clue what happens at the bottom of the ocean. Those sounds could’ve been anything. But at the same time, why did that make the news cycle knowing it could’ve been anything?

The problem with social media is that it creates the impression that every average idiot knows what they're talking about. Clearly they don't. The answer just cannot be to silence people who should probably shut up anyway. Sure, the world would be a better place, but it isn't. And who gets to make that call about what is acceptable and how can you possibly eliminate any political bias from that person? You can't. Which is why you can't have some person/entity/agency making that call. I'm as elitist as they come and I don't want someone telling me what I can and cannot read or look at just because there are dopes out there that might believe things that aren't true. You beat bad ideas with good ideas. Muzzling the loonies just reinforces the conspiracy feedback loop.

Quite fascinating. All the time the banging was being detected, I asked myself if it was them banging why wouldn't they bang out a pattern such as SOS? Then we'd know for sure they were alive. It doesn't make sense that 5 supposedly intelligent people would just bang haphazardly on the hull of the vessel. Most likely scenario is what the US Navy detected on day 1 was the sub imploding. However, they couldn't just go by that, they needed some confirmation. Kudos to the crews of all the international ships called in for the rescue.

Again, the "yelling fire in a crowded movie theater when there is no fire" is the problem and you cannot do that in most municipalities in the USA without getting jailed.

Jan 6th doesn't go down the way it went down if there was an AI bot shutting down all discussion thread by thread on the prospects of a rally in Washington D.C. the day the votes were to be certified.

They didn’t say the banging was or wasn’t in a SOS format though.

Shut up already. You want to limit free speech and everyone regardless of party here can see it.

I get people being reckless with themselves but with your kid? I mean honestly if a reputable company was involved it could have been a beautiful experience for them but not with this janky watercraft. Just so ill advised. :( R.I.P

That submersible was little more than a glorified Pringles can.

You really don’t understand the reasoning behind the yelling fire premise so you probably shouldn’t repeat it as if it actually validates your nonsense.

I preferred Twitter when it wasn't pushing the posts of jackwagons to the top of my feed. In an ideal world, those jackwagons would be silenced, like how we kick out Pats trolls. But that's the job of the platform, not the government. And unfortunately Twitter is now owned by the king of jackwagons. So it is what it is. Still beats government censorship.

    Dance band on the Titanic
Sing "Nearer, my God, to Thee"
The iceberg's on the starboard bow
    Won't you dance with me
Mama stood cryin' at the dockside
Sayin' "Please son, don't take this trip"

I said "Mama, sweet Mama, don't you worry none"
"Even God couldn't sink this ship"
Well, the whistle blew and they turned the screws
It turned the water into foam
    Destination sweet salvation
    Goodbye home sweet home

There was a trombone and a saxophone
The bass and drums were cookin' up the bandstand
And I was strummin' in the middle with this dude on the fiddle
And we were three days out from land
And now the foghorn's jammed and moanin'
Hear it groanin' through the misty night
I heard the lookout shout down "There's icebergs around"
    "But still everything's all right"

They were burnin' all the flares for candles
In the banquet they were throwin' in first class
And we were blowin' waltzes in the barroom
    When the universe went CRASH!
"There's no way that this could happen"
I could hear the old captain curse
He ordered lifeboats away, that's when I heard the chaplain say
"Women and children and chaplains first"
Well, they soon used up all of the lifeboats
But there were a lot of us left on board
I heard the drummer sayin' "Boys, just keep playin'"
"Now we're doin' this gig for the Lord"

There's a wild-eyed boy in the radio shack
    He's the last remaining guest
He was tappin' in a Morse code frenzy
    Tappin' "Please God, S.O.S."
Jesus Christ can walk on the water
But a music man will drown
They say that Nero fiddled while Rome burned up
Well, I was strummin' as the ship go down

    Dance band on the Titanic
Sing "Nearer, my God, to Thee"
The iceberg's on the starboard bow
    Won't you dance with me?
