In 2022, Aaron Judge lead the MLB (Not the AL, mind you: MLB) in 23 distinct offensive categories. Do you know how many combined Pitching and Offensive categories Ohtani lead the MLB in that same year? ONE. The fact that he was even mentioned as a potential winner of the MVP last year is the very essence of the word OVERRATED.

Ohtani is without a doubt the most versatile player that baseball has seen in a long time. However, versatility does not automatically equate to eliteness.

He’s a fucking freak of nature. But let’s not act like Judge isn’t pretty goddamn versatile himself. Top five arm in right. Great range when he plays center. And runs through fucking walls.

If you mean Bruce Sutter and Harold Baines yku might be correct.

You must be mistaken Sutter and Baines for Mike Schmidt and Pedro.

Just last year Ohtani was ranked:
    Home runs (fourth)
    Triples (fourth)
    OPS (fourth)
    Total bases (fourth)
    EXBH (third)
    ERA (fourth)
    Wins (fourth)
    Strikeout rate (first)
    Strikeouts (third)
Most games with 10 more strikeouts in the AL (first)
First player ever with 10 or more pitching wins and 30 or more home runs in a season (Ruth won 13 games and hit 11 homers in 1918, he is the only other player with double digits in both)

    Give me a break LMFAO.

Where as Judge was ranked FIRST in all of Major League Baseball in TWENTY THREE Distinct offensive categories according to baseball-reference.com:

    2022 American League Batting Leaders | Baseball-Reference.com

It's not even debatable who the better player is, and that is the essence of my argument. When someone says he is better than Judge they are over-rating him.

Don't even get me started on the Babe Ruth Comparisons.

Ohtani isn't as good a hitter as Judge, but he's still a top-tier hitter and a top-tier pitcher. And that combination makes him about as valuable as Judge, even if we assume Judge continues to hit like he's been hitting the last two seasons.

Who said that he stinks? That would be a foolish comment to make.

My only concerns for Ohtani is he signs a huge contract and he stops either pitching or batting half way through. It's definitely going to happen during the contract, but when and how steep the decline.

I think the ten plus year contract is not the best for baseball. The fact none of them ever pan out, and they mostly become albatrosses, negatively impacts the game. The only real winner is the player. But the cap makes this mandatory.

He can pitch and DH though. If he played the field on non-pitching days, but guys are DHing until they are 37+. Also Ohtani is going to bring in so much revenue to whatever team he goes to. Think about the Asian demo in Queens. Citi Field would be packed every single night.

Him and Mahomes are probably the only athletes worth a contract that starts with a 5 in the front.

The essence of this thread was that Aaron Judge was more deserving of the 2022 MVP award that Ohtani. I will stand by that statement until I am blue in the face. The Numbers clearly support it. That was the reason for the term "overrated" being used. Ohtani was simply not the MVP last year, despite the howls of "experts"

As for this year, If the Angels make the playoffs, Ohtani is the MVP, without any question.
