I love the idea that we could pick up a guy like Adalius Thomas in FA this offseason. But Im scared that the Ravens let him go and then we pass on Woodley, allowing the ravens to take woodley a couple picks later. Personally, I would rather have Woodley who has his who career in front of him as opposed to Thomas..who would you guys rather have
Wait, I think I am confused. The Pats have the Seahawks 1st round pick correct? If so, then they would be picking after us right? I'm so confused today....
Thomas is a 30 year old Bryan Thomas. No thanks. Bringing in mercenary guys from really great defenses never really works. He's a nice player, but he can be someone else's long-term contract. -X-
draft order Because the Jets had a better record than Seattle, the Pats will have a pick before the Jets unless the Seahawks make the Super Bowl.
adalius thomas. we have way too many young, average players on our team. we need a dominating LB who can help us out RIGHT NOW and not in 5 years.
i posted a link to a (very annoying) Woodley highlight video someone created on youtube, but the sinister Mods moved it to the draft section. can i post the link in this thread? cheers
I'll take Woodley, who has a whole career and a bright future in front of him. Thomas will probably get a huge contract and, if you can get a player who's going to be less expensive and has a longer time to dominate, what's the point of signing Thomas?
any time a concern is dependent on as many variables as yours is to actually occur, you are worying too much.
Here's some Draft/FA thinking... Last year, we went for mostly Depth-- this year, I think we try to nab one sure thing starter, and pay some $$ for him. I'd love to pay good $$ to get Steinbach to be our starting Guard. I don't see any good first year starting guards in the draft class other than maybe Blalock from Texas- and I sincerely doubt he would outplay Steinbach anyway. So, we pay the money there, and leave ourselves open to take players in the draft who can contribute early, like a LB, DE/NT and RB in the first 3 pics-- (Woodley, Karriker, Hunt seems attainable at this point) taking BPA out of those 3 spots if possible. LB and RB can especially be impact players right away, and have a quick break-in period in the NFL. That being said, I would still love to have either Thomas, or Clements if we didn;t land the big guard. I think we do need to pay up for one of these top free agents-- we are solid everywhere, but really not spectacular anywhere... I'd much rather get one sure thing, rather than add 3 more guys for depth like we did last year. We have good depth already- any more will just result in minor upgrades, and decent players getting cut.
Screw that !!! How about both ....How sick would that front seven look with Woodley,Adalius Thomas,BT,and Vilma be on third and long ...Hello Mr. Brady
30 years old. Do you suppose he's looking for a two year deal? Dream on. Moreover, a previous post mentioned a guy that can help RIGHT NOW, showcasing the fundamental flaw in most teams free agent philosophy. In order to get a guy like Thomas RIGHT now, you're going to have to overpay for him in two years, when he's not worth a fraction of the price. Were "right now" the way to go, the Redskins would currently be pursuing their fifth Super Bowl this decade. Instead they're sitting at home, with a few bad draft picks. -X-
