I would be pretty shocked if the Jets sign him. They gave Morstead over a million dollars to punt in 2023. I think they are just giving him a courtesy visit
Kickoffs are irrelevant now. Kick it to end zone, they get it at the 25. Kick it shorter and they fair catch and they get it at the 25. I would not use a roster spot for a kickoff specialist
1m is chump change in football lol, guys get cut with more dead weight than that all the time. You don’t let 1m stop you from maybe having a punter of the future when Morstead is on his last days come on now
Spot on. Having a kick off returner has lost his luster as well. I heard every special team coordinator voted against that new rule, but it was implemented for this season only.
From the link- It's the stock answer because of Rodgers' name brand, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hold merit. The longtime Packers QB wasn't his MVP self in 2022, but his relocation has a lot of similarities to Tom Brady's 2020 Tampa Bay relocation, which came after a sluggish Patriots finale and preceded a rejuvenated title run. A motivated Rodgers is a dangerous Rodgers, and he's still got the vision to elevate a playoff-caliber roster, as well as enable Saleh to put more of his focus on an ascending defense.
All it takes is one. Just because there aren’t any doesn’t mean there can’t be. Point is if he’s any good, doesn’t hurt to try him out
They are all different because they are distinctly different kicking styles and when you are talking about arguably the best 32 at what they do you are extremely unlikely to find someone that is at the top of the game in both categories. That would be a golden egg laying unicorn. Before it is brought up, Ammendola may have filled in for Mann in one game but the likelihood of him continuing at that level and excelling while doing the same on kick offs and FGs is not going to happen. Ammendola did well on those punts 1 game but has been cut by at least 3 teams, including the Jets, in the last 2 seasons. I do realize you were talking about the Jets current punter and Araiza battling out for punter and the loser doing kick offs but I used Ammendola as an example that because you can do on you likely can't do the other at the same level. Why try and push a punter into the kicker position when there are pros that have been doing it at a high level for many years. And yes I realize Araiza was a kicker also but obviously 64% on FGs doesn't cut it
No teams do that because they would be pretty dumb to waste 3 roster spots on guys that don't play football. We have Becton for that.
He is already out at least $800000 and no way to tell how much the case will effect his future earnings.
The Jets might find a way to ruin his career though so he’s playing with fire with a second whore in a row.
Too funny. Bills took all the heat for drafting a rapist, had to cut him, only for him to quietly go to the Jets!
