I bet that was a fun show, Mastodon usually puts on a really great and technical performance, even though they cut up the whole time. Gojira is a band I haven't really gotten into yet but people keep telling me I should. The sound doesn't do it for me yet. Maybe I need to see them live.
Yeah, same here.... never even listened to them before. They already startedas I was walking in and first song I was like ..."ugggh Nu-metal", but then as they got rolling they really rocked for a bunch of frenchies Whole show was really good, and yes the technical aspect (lighting, effects, video) was probably the best I've seen at this venue before. Not the metalhead that some of you guys are but I do enjoy the raw energy of these shows. I dig Gojira, they have their own sound that is hard to compare to anyone else. I don't really know their early stuff, but the last 3 are very good.
I must be getting too old to appreciate bands like Mastodon and Gojira... but Truckfighters/Uncle Acid I can still dig. Been getting into some hill country blues stuff lately...
