Actually, the first thing we saw of Wilson when he joined the Jets was him and a dozen teammates at Islanders playoff games. (I didn't seen that, I saw it.)
Rodgers + Sauce follows the tradition of Jets QB's taking teammates of their own caliber out on the town.
I definitely believe that Rodgers will be great for Zach, especially since he said that's one of the reasons he came to the Jets was to help Zach develop and re-build his confidence. I like that Hackett seeks to make learning fun and creative, and that he brought in Viera. I like that he and Rodgers have a great rapport and friendship and that Rodgers won the MVP with Hackett as his QB coach/OC. I like what he said in the interview. I have hopes that he, along with Rodgers, will be exactly what Zach needs. I fear that I may be wrong and Zach may already be ruined. I also can't help but remember his dad as OC and how many of us couldn't stand his offense or play calling as it was often too conservative. I haven't experienced Hackett's coaching firsthand, so I can't help but have some concerns, and due to the influence of all the negative Jets fans and the Jets' sorry history, those concerns are being compounded until I began seeing actual results. I'm very hopeful, but not very confident at this point.
And yet here you are stomping your feet and insisting to anyone who will listen that Zach is beyond fixing
Some quotes in here are good medicine for hardened hearts. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/37328937/young-jets-players-awe-new-teammate-aaron-rodgers
My bad. I forgot that there were faux Jets fans here who are more interested in being proven right than in seeing what's best for the team happen. Carry on.
I didn't say that Zach would start as long as AR is here and healthy, nor have I ever thought that. You're free to believe what you want, but you guys who answer with such certainty on Zach and other issues as if you had inside information or had played in the NFL, crack me up. It's truly laughable. It may never happen, but if Zach has fixed his footwork, Rodgers and Hackett are able to remold him and help rebuild his confidence, and Zach starts looking very good in practice and in preseason do you seriously think that the Jets would just let him walk when AR retires (if it's after 2 years)? I don't, and further, I think they'd be idiots to do so, and I'd want them all fired.
Dude, you're wrong. You must have just started following the Jets. His rookie season, he was going to Rangers' games and hanging out with several players and drinking beer quite frequently.
Maybe so but now he has very few friends on the team, he lost the team after the crap he pulled after the New england game.
Nope. You made that up - you lied. I never said there's no chance for Wilson to ever improve, but I have recognized how much of a long shot that would be.
If the guy can't embrace the challenge like that, I don't want him - whether player, coach or staffer. I want the guy who thrives on the pressure rather than succumbs to it. We should keep this handy for every time somebody here starts whining that no player or coach wants to come to New York.
Grab a clue, NC. Not a single thing you have done here has ever helped the Jets win or lose a football game; it hasn't even meant a single completed pass in practice. It has made you look foolish when your pie in the sky projections prove you wrong. But you always had an injury or something else ready as an excuse. Try dealing with reality for once. When you can say you were a season ticket holder fifty years ago, then you can tell me about the difference between real and "faux" fans.
Yea but Rodgers isn't wearing the jersey, and I appreciate that. I want to imagine a real life Seinfeld moment when everyone shows up in jerseys and Rodgers goes "No, I'm good." And then their team mates say "but you have to wear the jersey!"
Zach's problem hasn't been his character; it's been his inability to play QB at an NFL level. If you're good, you can act like a jerk and get away with it (Rodgers being a perfect example), but if you're bad, nobody's got time for that in this league.
