I suppose we'll see. I think a QB that knows how to read a defense could make a pretty big difference. I assume you're factoring in Becton's health when saying he isn't even decent? If he's healthy, I have no question he'll be way more than decent. Unfortunately, its a massive "if."
At least in one publication - The Eagles had the #1 rated oline... KC was ranked #2. GB was ranked 8. The Jets ranked 29th and so far have done absolutely nothing to get better. I get injuries, but it's not a stretch to think they could be in a similar situation this year given - Becton/Brown... https://www.profootballnetwork.com/best-offensive-lines-nfl-rankings/
I heard rumor he was playing with a broken thumb since week 5…. Some might say that’s why he had a down year.
There’s the biggest problem. “If healthy”. In the not-infrequent case of them being not healthy an average O-line turns decidedly below average very quickly
OL is the biggest concern on this team…no doubt…for all the reasons already stated above Becton staying healthy would be amazing as he can be dominant, but I have zero faith in his ability to play 17 games…hell, I have little faith he can play 10 games, let alone all year. I also didn’t like losing Herbig as I felt that him and AVT at RT could be good enough… Lots of building yet to do here
Broken thumb. His WR corps was below average for the first half of the year. It took Watson becoming reliable for it to be even mediocre between him and Lazard. Doubs was ok, and Cobb is an older WR who really only played because Rodgers needed someone who knew the offense. Tonyan was working his way back from an injury…it was a worse case scenario initially for Rodgers as to why he seemed to “regress”
Getting Aaron rodgers does nothing to improve the line? We’ll soon see that Wilson’s inability to read a defense, both pre and post snap, made the line look far worse than it actually is
Hopefully AR8 knows how to check coverage and change plays, as well as not run around like an animal for 8 seconds in the backfield because he doesn't know what's happening. We have an experienced OL, I expect as least 2 draft picks in the next few days on the OL.
Plain and Plain and Simple ..Douglas is 100 per cent responsible if AR is hurt because of the OL failure it’s an automatic fireable offense imo jeez. He knows what he has there ! And it’s broken down in past smh I was all for the Rogers trade (and I still am) But as I posted before these two phonies Douglas and Robert S were walking the plank Pulling off the Rogers deal for Woody and his dream helped save their jobs Frankly I didn’t get the switch from 13 down to 15 as a big deal but now unfortunately I see that crucial error All of us on TGG are not GMs ! We are not paid millions to know the ramifications of going 13 to 15 and the needs of the Team eg get a young OL Douglas should have known that ..was he forced to do this move to get Rogers? Who knows I say it’s malfeasance if he doesn’t correctly chose line help round 2
2 other factors to his down year was a new OC (we have his OC form his back to back MVP seasons now) and losing adams and having nobody to throw to really.
Feeling is not so confident... Reality is I have no clue...we don't even know what'll be what when season starts..... Becton is such a wild card
Looks like there are 5 OGs / OTs available in the top half of the 2nd round, so we have a shot. Plus, other teams ahead of us either don’t need OL help (e.g., Green Bay) or just got someone (e.g., Pittsburgh). Dawand Jones could be a plug and play right tackle, so I’m looking there first unless they are looking at Mauch for his versatility. Also thinking JD may move up (throw in a 5th) if they are high on one of these next set of guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It is a mark of a good GM if he can land solid OL talent/depth in the mid rounds anyway. If Douglas is any good he still has plenty of opportunities to get some quality linemen here
As a Devils fan, I've bet the Rags every game in the playoffs and it's paid off (didn't bet Gm3 - out of state). So i won 2 games (1/2), lost 2 games (4/5). Bet the rest (initial bet) on Rags in Gm 6. My hedging's been mint. So, if there is a way for me to bet the Jets taking a TE or RB (something we really don't need), then the chances of them taking OL skyrockets. Punters rejoice! I'm off to the bookies!
Between Brown, Becton, AVT, and Mitchell we should be ok at tackle. Adding an interior linemen allows us to kick AVT outside to tackle this year. He can move back inside next year if we move off of Laken Tomlinson.
