Not many answers, but kinda what I figured being the first day of press for him. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
My impression FWIW, Rodgers is the consummate pro and by his own words is here to win another (at least) SB. That said, he's not cocky and is expecting to come in as a "savior" - again his own words. But the reality is that if he plays like he's capable of playing, and the rest of the team - CS and players - hold up their end, he'll lead them to the Promised Land. Maybe that puts him somewhere between Moses and Jesus I suppose. That he's ready to start work right away with the team; that he's planning on staying in the NY Metro area and to getting to know everyone, shows he's eager to make the transition from Packer to Jet right now. Finally, that he says he's always thought of playing "into my 40s" - again his words - underscores that he's not looking on this as a 1 year deal. He acknowledges that "I'm old" so he can't predict what will happen, but his mindset is that he's looking to help turn "an iconic franchise" (the Jets) around. The Jets QB Problem is solved for now.
I've been kinda against the trade from the outset, & think they overpaid. That said, unlike all the media & fan BS, I really like the guy. He seems to be a really intelligent thoughtful, clear-eyed, no BS, private person. And liking him is my hook, to be ok with the trade. I also think that if Zach has any chance to develop, AR is the guy to get through to him, & help him mature as a person, & consequently as a QB. They already have some kinda relationship, and AR's "bring it on" tweet, shows a lightness between them. AR spoke about his legacy, & judging by my read of him, I think aside from winning in NY, he'd take great pleasure in helping Zach grow up. So, Zach now has an environment to develop, which is the best possible outcome, knowing the mess his first two years have been for Zach. My biggest question remains... is Saleh the guy to bring it all together? I'll tell ya, for me, that presser made the rest of this off-season, & the coming season something to be excited about... whew! .
You can always replace Robert Saleh ..who knows ? Maybe RS gets some smarts now that he has Arron Rogers next to him.
I wasn't a fan of the trade up until today. I'm sold, and could care less what we gave up. I've been to two jets games since 2010. the AFC championship game in Pittsburgh and Mike White's rainy first start. I think I might have to get season tickets !!
Some of you are so funny. You didn't like the trade, were blind to how he is as a person, therefore just hated the trade with basically no reason why.. ok. He had a generic, standard press conference where not much was said, and now you're hyped, and totally on board? Am I crazy, or does that make zero sense? Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
During his introductory press conference as a member of the Jets on Wednesday afternoon, quarterback Aaron Rodgers deflected a question about playing beyond 2023 by saying he was “just going to focus on this season.” Rodgers gave a different answer to that question a short time later. Rodgers met with beat reporters after the press conference came to an end and suggested that he’s viewing his time with the Jets lasting longer than just the 2023 season. “This isn’t a one-and-done in my mind. This is a commitment,” Rodgers said, via Zack Rosenblatt of TheAthletic.com. Rodgers has not taken a snap with the Jets yet and there’s much to play out before there will be any clear idea of 2024 plans, but the prospect of multiple years with Rodgers running the offense will likely make it easier for anyone invested in the Jets to swallow the price the team paid to bring the quarterback to Jersey.
It's entirely possible to hate the trade and still be glad we have Rodgers as our QB now. I still think the trade was garbage, still don't like It, and I still think It's dog shit. However.. I'm still glad we have Aaron Rodgers as our QB. Even If the window Is small, which also concerns me. I will enjoy the fuck out of this small window while It lasts though. (I hope anyway)
