But this is the Jets. Remember that year the Jets were loaded up to win? First game Testaverde out for the year.

Wilson? Some here are really grasping at straws trying to rationalize this move.

Four unemployed guys (not GMs) all thought the Jets should have gotten away a lot cheaper. What does it all mean?

I knew who you meant. Curious as to why he was lumped in there with JG and Carr

There’s been a lot of chatter since the trade happened that Rodgers is signing a new deal before the trade is finalized. Connor Hughes mentioned it here in this tweet:

And Boomer also mentioned it this morning on his show:

Both of these guys are making it seem like this revised contract is going to be a massive steal for the Jets. Hopefully once it’s officially official in the next few days, we’ll know exactly what they mean by these statements.

If a 2 year commitment is true, and it's a team friendly cap hit, we win the trade, or at least it's an even trade.

I hope we get two years out of Rodgers. The trade was a bit steep for a team that needs more than what they have on their roster at the moment. That first pick in 2024 will be huge if they don't make the playoffs this year and he's gone in the post season.

I've read that too - that the new deal is supposed to be great for the Jets, but it might be great for the Jets because AR is still receiving $60 million from GB, if GB agreed to retain the payment obligation in the deal. That would then mean that AR could agree to a very small yearly amount going forward.

If this reworked contract ends up being as good as some are making it out to be, this trade will look even better in my eyes.

Have WFAN on in the background.... Boomer and Co, said apparently the new contract makes his cap hit around 15-16million, so they think that's making it a 2 year deal

His cap hit this year was always going to be ~15M, that comes with exercising the option and kicking the can down the road for a few more years.

I'm interested to see if JD had GB pick up most of the tab on those dead money hits that will come into play over the next couple of years.
