Jackson was never a consideration for Douglas because Hackett would fuck it up, Douglas would get fired, and Douglas doesn't care about giving the next GM and coaching staff a potential long-term solution at QB.
Well, whatever leverage he was trying to give the Jets didn't work. GB got paid a lot. I would not call it a steal but they got a sweet sweet deal for the QB they weren't going to pay 60 mil check anyway.
C'mon Dean, when have the Jets EVER drafted and developed a FQB? It's not like having next year's 1 guarantees anything at all. And how much do you think you'd have to pay for a QB even close to Rodger's equal? We needed a FQB. We just got one. Be happy.
Without going through that thread, if people didn’t have the comp close to what actually occurred, then yes, most of TGG wasn’t living in reality.
Lamar can be traded for a 6th round pick if that’s what Baltimore wants…. That’s how trades work. He isn’t available for a 6th nor is he available for 2 1sts. If you want to die on the “Lamar was available for 2 1sts” hill, be my guest.
If you guys wanna argue that Lamar most likely won’t get traded then I agree with you there. But again, technically speaking, as soon as Baltimore put the non-exclusive tag on Lamar he was free to negotiate a deal with any other team.
I get it. I understand fully the situation as do you. But it's not like "hey here's two firsts. Now give me lamar" and I know you know that also. I
Given the talent of last year's roster, we lost games we should have won because of bad QB play, and we won games we should have lost by getting lucky facing other teams' backups. And those two things to some extent canceled each other out. This year, we won't have bad QB play anymore because of Rodgers, but we aren't going to get free wins against other teams' backups, so we aren't likely to get as big an improvement in wins as you'd usually get from going from Zach to Rodgers.
You think we got it bad? Imagine being the Dolphins trading all their picks for Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb, paying them big money, then trading more picks for Jalen Ramsey and still being the third best team in your own division according to Vegas
I don't know If we do have that good of an outlook, even with Rodgers. I have a lot of skeptical thoughts with that. From the new offensive scheme and coaching staff. I don't feel confident with Hackett as our OC. Our OL Is a big concern for me as well. We play In a very strong division and conference to boot. So, that Is debatable for sure. Your Zach Wilson point goes nowhere for me because he's not even an option In my mind at all anymore. As far as development of a QB. That may be true but I know for certain If they never try to get It right, they certainly never will. .. and you even pointed out recently that the elite QBs tend to come from the first round. The odds are better by far of landing that guy with that asset In the first round of any draft. We won't have that, regardless of what you think about the developmental aspect of It. It also needs to happen at some point or this team will always be losers. We can't figure It out If we are expending our very valuable future assets like this for a QB who already essentially has one foot out the door. It's just not a good look for me as a fan and I think this will have a very bad impact on our future possibilities as well because of this. The only saving grace would be If we do make the Superbowl with Rodgers. Even with a Rodgers at QB though. He's not his former self. Even then, In his prime, he struggled to get there. Now he's 40, In a much harder division and conference and fans are expecting so much now. I think that's much more of a testament to how badly we've sucked for the last 13 years especially, rather than how good we actually are now with Rodgers as our QB. IMO
