As long as we get Rodgers, there's no harm in waiting for now. But if this drags on over the summer, it could impact Rodgers's play during the season (see 2016 Fitzpatrick), and that would be a massive error by the Jets.
I'm thinking Whitehead is going to be included in this trade package. He's too expensive for a backup SS, and GB has a need there. It's been very quiet on that front, so good chance he already knows.
Yeah, he came in August, adn we were SB favorites and 8-3 before he tore his bicep. And he didn't know the offense. Rodgers already knows Hackett's offense.
Dude, you are delusional. I can’t believe I’m going to even engage, but here we go. Oh, and nfl.com just released their top GM’s today, and Beane made the top 5. But yeah, continue on. You said 19 sucks yet it yielded 3 starters and some quality backups. You said 20 sucks but it again yielded 3 starters, a guy who finished 2nd in sacks on the team last year and is an important pass rusher, a dude we traded for Nyheim Hines which was a good move, and a dude who is the number one receiver on the giants. You said 21 sucks but again yielded 2 starters and a few other quality backups. Keep hitting that pipe man, you’re the only one in the world who doesn’t think Beane is a good GM lol.
So the latest buzz that seems to have some traction right now is the rumor that the offer made by GB has been rejected with push back from both Woody and JD. Apparently came from an NFL insider in Milwaukee by the name of Robinson I believe, well respected, and it was broadcasted in the local area today. Seems that GB has requested the 2nd pick this year and the 1st pick next year, with no qualifier or conditions. In return GB has agreed to a compensatory pick in 2025 if AR retires in 2024. NY rejects the unconditional first without any qualifier. That is the stand still and has been for over a month. No movement. I can see that being a realistic scenario. Apparently AR statement that he was 90% ready to retire has the leadership freaked out that he might only play one year. And after watching the blunder in Denver after giving up a king ransom of picks for that mess of a performance, including giving Seattle a monster first this year to boot, that is very legitimate concern. So with that in mind, is going to come down to day two of the draft and see who blinks first.
Feel free to leave out the fact that he won them the patriots game. Also the receiving touchdown he had that was important.
https://www.profootballrumors.com/2...first-rounder-in-aaron-rodgers-trade#ref=home Packers STILL demanding a 1st
I read the same story yesterday and today. This thread pretty much transcribes the 10 min conversation with Charles Robinson. Let the trade go all the way up until the season, who cares. Nothing is preventing Rodgers from throwing to any of our guys out in California and the signing of Tim Boyle as a camp arm is just someone who knows the system so our guys can get acclimated to the new(ish) system. Rodgers is a massive liability for them the moment he shows up on Monday for offseason workouts-- a $60 million dollar liability
Good question I'm not sure. Robinson move on the surface sucks worse but you have to consider that Buffalo gave away a decent player (Zach Moss) for Hines who ironically outplayed all 3 guys down the stretch
I just saw this article too. I had mixed feelings - IF it's all true, it is good that Woody is being cautious and not banging the table to get the deal done at any price. It is not good that the Packers have a delusional price in mind for a one-year rental QB of that age. A second AND a first? GTFO. In soccer, even the biggest names change hands for peanuts near the ends of their careers because the team getting them knows it is just for a year or two and that they won't be able to sell them on again and recoup their outlay. It's time for the Packers to wake up and I hope JD holds firm. I'd give them a fourth and they could take it or leave it. It's not like they are owed anything after getting 18 seasons out of the guy.
Yes and No LA Woody and JD may have to live with the Sword of Damocles hanging over their head and give up something substantial..and I get AR may not play 2024. Remember ..who is a better QB hands down R Wilson or A Rogers?? The guy AR supposedly is not valued at a first round pick in a Trade..really? FTMR in Denver Hackett and Wilson was a mismatch ..Now Hackett has right fit with his AllPro Rogers If all goes well and we get say an AFC championship in 2023 we are not eligible for first rounder in 2024 anyway I am trying to think positive..my plan would be be to assume AR is excited to bring NY Jets a SB and throw aLazard a record # of TDs..but that moron JD has to find the best OL in this years draft (at 13 or higher) to PROTECT Rogers from injury. That's under your control imo. Worst case is he cant play as well because of no protection and morphs into Brett Favre
I do believe when is all well and done the 2024 pick will be a lot more substantial that what everyone thinks. It becomes somewhat mute if AR and the Jets have a great year, but if something was to go south 2024 could be ugly for us. I too like to think positive and believe AR has a lot to prove and comes with a huge chip on his shoulder.
There is no way a guaranteed 1st round pick should even be mentioned not one team but the Jets even want Rodgers . Unless the Jets win the superbowl no 1st round pick should ever be given, Greenbay is dellusional. Rodgers success next year depends on wether we fix the offensive line or not this offseason and if they don't Rodgers will stink next year, so say he gets sacked 50 times next year and his body takes a beating and the Jets dissapoint as usual who is to say he doesn't demand a trade next offseason or say f this im retiring, that makes Zack Wilson our starting quarterback in 2024 and that makes us a 6-11 or 7-10 team again meaning the 2024 pick becomes a high draft pick, so no way should we guarantee any 1st round pick. Gb will eventually cave no team but the Jets wants Rodgers for a reason. Ask our offensive coordinator how guaranteeing 1st round draft picks and commiting alot of cap space for a aging quarterback is going for the Broncos. I rather mortgage the future for Lamar Jackson if were giving up 1st round draft picks, or get a stop gap Qb for another season and use all the draft capital to draft smart than have the Aaron Rodgers saga all over again next year and hope someone in the cave don't tell him to retire.
I’ve been very confident this deal is already in place and they’ve been waiting for cap reasons or for something to shake out in the draft. But this news is alarming to say the least because the compensation they’re referencing is absolutely absurd (our 2nd this year and a 1st next year), but more so because our GM went on a radio show saying “he’s gonna be here”. If JD said that without the actual terms of the agreement in place already then he’s a flat out fool.
