If the Jets had offered half of what the Ravens paid OBJ, I'd say it was a slight overpay, but I wouldn't bitch too much about it. $15-18 million is absurd.
Whats weird is the ravens are trying to figure out a way to pay Jackson, and they give OBJ this contract? Its must be interesting in their FO at the moment.
What often puzzles me about fan (and often front office) values of veteran players, is that too often they ignore the reality of time. Everything I see pro-OBJ is about what he was years ago. If OBJ was still the player he was years ago, sure he could be a serious consideration. But he's had 2 serious injuries, & aged since his productive years. I have the same problem with AR... so many people, including the GB front office, seem to discount the time-factor, which has a huge effect on current value. Then there are those that cite AR's age, even though he's been relatively healthy, but ignore OBJ's age & injuries. Just weird & puzzling the inconsistency of thought. .
NFL Radio on SiriusXM tonight said that Beckham was assured Jackson would be the QB. No specific person at Baltimore was named as responsible for the claim.
Heard on the radio this morning that the Ravens have never had a WR make the pro bowl in there franchise history. I would not have guessed that......
Kupp averaged an extra 4.6 yds per game more after OBJ came to the team but he dropped down from 1.11 TD per game to .75 TD per game, doesn't seem like he effected Kupp's play all that much I'll edit one line from your post since I somewhat agree with it, "When he was on the field he used to be awesome before his second ACL injury", whether that continues is very questionable.
Yes, I remember week 1. Brutal. Edit: he finished the year with 400 yards receiving, 3 TDs in 14 games
