I think this is unfair. He said a couple of times that it means nothing until they start to win. There's no way he's acting like the Jets are a finished product.
When my friends show me articles like this, I can only shrug and say, “That’s the Jets for ya.” I’ll always have January 12, 1969. Maybe that’s all I’ll ever have.
What a dweeb. Always has been. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this asshole gets to play real life fantasy football This is on par to someone putting Cooper Kupp on their trade board for "more depth" and you getting giddy F off and go back to London
Looks like this over-hyped culture change has not affected Woody's existence in bizarro world. Reminds one of the time he referred to a false start as "playing footsie". In all fairness to him, this was during Rex' tenure.
For saying it is good that people want to play for the Jets? You don't need much reason to shit on Woody, do you?
I think it's fucking pathetic, on all fronts. I know it's to desperately get fans to buy tickets, but announcing to the league that you're at "this level" because players want to sign, not so much that you have won any football games of consequence - clown shoes. The Jets might as well be Atlanta. Players always want to sign there, but they don't win Super Bowls. Ever.
Yeah…it’s a stupid thing to say and an even more pathetic way to think The focus should be on WINNING. Divisions. AFC Championships. SuperBowls. Declaring a “moral victory” because some players actually would consider playing here just sounds so fucking pathetic…it’s a loser mentality.
New month, we will try to defend our March championship title now in April when is the parade anyway?
I never said anything about him saying they're a finished product. How many times does Saleh ever mention the collapse at the end of last season? It really happened. It really needs to be acknowledged & addressed. Not just throwing in an occasional 'we have to win' comment. He would be acting no differently, had the Jets not collapsed, & instead got into the playoffs. I've worked in PR, & understand lots about messaging, etc. But there's actual reality, too, and if he was smart, he'd acknowledge what happened, if only to protect himself against irrational high expectations, among players, a very needy fan-base, & a click-bait Media mindset. One added consequence of the delusion, is all opponents are gonna be circling the Jets game. They're gonna be wanting a piece of the Jets. Every game is gonna bring out the competitive fire in opponents. Remember what happened at the end of the season... Jets opponents raised their level of play, in their push for the playoffs. The Jets didn't... and it wasn't just QB play. The players, AND Coaching Staff were not up to the challenge. Everyone talks about AR being the savior, but to me, if the team raises it's level of play, the real savior will be Hackett. Will there be a smart, coherent offensive plan that utilizes the talent effectively? Or, will it be more nonsense of forcing players into roles, not suitable to their talents? Scheme first, or talent first? Amazing that the Jets haven't given a Hackett presser yet. .
OBJ signed with Baltimore but at least he considered the Jets and that is a victory in itself (follow up article for Jets.com)
Well done BN. Please keep bumping this every time something happens regarding Woody embarrassing the Jets fans.
I wonder if the Jets and Giants will play in the preseason this year since they will meet in the regular season.
I don't believe the Jets and Giants have missed a preseason matchup in over fifty years and play each other every four or five years during the regular season.
