Would it make any sense now that JD trade the 13 picks for additional picks before the draft and AR trade? My thinking not only build up extra more impact depth around AR if they give a 2nd pick to GB but force GB to reconsider their demands? and also too should the AR Saga goes awry, jets go after Lamar and even losing the first round pick, have extra 2nd round picks.
Time for the NFL to step in and put some pressure for the fair resolution of this cluster fuck move by GB to demand a first down. Jets need to be prepared to step away from this deal and go forward with a different option.
You want the other owners (THE NFL) to interfere with what is happening? And set a precedent? Please!
Now Wingo can change the story as we are in a new week I actually think there is a chance it might get done this week since there is owners' meeting and all GMs will be there, so there is opportunity there for JD to convince GB face to face that his offer will not increase between now and the draft. If not this week at owner's meeting, we are probably looking at the draft itself as the next milestone or shortly before the draft.
GB fleeced themselves by putting AR in the past tense without a plan. Jets can walk away and pursue another option. Giving up the first is getting fleeced. This was always a short, most likely one year plan with appropriate compensation.
We should remember in all of this that the sweetspot for GB caving is not the draft, it is June 1st. If nothing gets done by the draft we're looking at a June 1st trade for picks next year. GB might well want the Jets '24 1st round pick and know that they can get it on June 1st.
I said I don't know, just like Wingo doesn't. Yeah, there is a chance this week because of the owners meeting, but not me, not Wingo, and not anyone else has a clue. I do think having it done close or during the draft has a high probability as I stated before since GB might want picks this year, but it's just a guess.
It is ironic that some of the people who believe Rodgers makes us a legit SB contender also think a 1st is to much. If you really thought it made us a SB contender than a 1st isn't to much.
Not all 1sts are created equal. We want to build a perennial contender. AR may get us there but draft picks will keep us there.
I find it strange that that teams like the Titans and Commanders don’t have any interest. They’re similarly positioned as we are in terms of roster construction. The Colts as well.
The Colts are drafting a QB at 4, and the Commanders apparently either really like Sam Howell or don't think they're ready to win yet. Not sure why the Titans haven't shown interest; maybe there are some sort of cap or roster issues? But at this point, I'm ready for anything, even Belichick deciding to steal Rodgers.
AR will turn 40 years of age during this upcoming season. Last year GB scored all of 10 pts at Lambeau vs the NYJ en route to not making the playoffs. Hellava QB yes, worth handing GB a 1st round pick? 40 years old? Nope.
