We can only hope this is a ploy to entice buyers for the Jets so Woody can run off and eat orange wedges with the soccer people.
We're not in position to make an all-out Super Bowl push yet. When we fix the OL *and* find a QB we'll be in position but the quick fixes on the OL are not working.
Of course it’s a SB push, Woody is 76 years old. If they took Derek Carr that meant Woody would be 80 by the time we got through that 4 years of mediocrity and look to rebuild. Woody would likely be dead before a SB. Now we have a HOF caliber QB that can give us 2 years of greatness at the position and the best chance we’ll have for a SB since 1999. It’s no guarantee, but it’s the best chance by far. And after 2 years of JD plays his cards right we should still have a ton of young talent to continue to build.
There's one "if," though, that you may not be considering about the OL... JD et al know some stuff we don't. If they have some smart physiologists, that designed a specific plan for Mekhi's rehab, & he's been following & working that plan with gusto... and said physiologists say, 'Mekhi's gonna be good,' then, they're expecting him to be ok. We'll probably meet 'the backup plan' early on draft-day. I'm one of those that is disappointed in the direction the team's heading. But, I think that the team being very optimistic about Mekhi, & AVT, is a pleasant surprise. Maybe the OL isn't such a mess... We'll see... .
I need to see the OL functioning at an acceptable level before I'm going to believe it will happen. We almost got there last year but everybody started dropping out early and then the plan face-planted (again.) It's time to take off and nuke it from orbit and that's going to mean spending multiple picks on players to fix it as opposed to spending multiple picks on a player to try to fix it.
Don’t drink the cool-aid. Woody and Jets business management are in panic mode. A 10% increase in ticket prices along with another horrendous season has caused a volume of season ticket cancellations and serious reduction in fans buying green and white shit. Jet fans, we are in the seasonal throws of “Hope Season”. This occurs yearly prior to the draft. Jets organizations and all NFL teams try and ramp up hope through rumors, FA moves, and strategic releases of player information. Following the draft we get “Hype Season”. Volumes of “possibilities” and other fraudulent pronouncements will fill the air right up to the first regular season game. All this in the motive of putting asses in seats and selling green and white shit. Cool-aid anyone?
Well said my friend. But if we land Rodgers, this year will be different. Hope is a dangerous thing but it is all we have now.
Every year you are an NFL franchise should be a SB push!!!! And that’s how the Maras Hunts and Rooney roll Woody rewarded bad management like Bowles and Mac with extended contracts for doing and accomplishing nothing to put us in as Championship contenders Tanenbaum was so much better JD is trying to prove his past 3 years were not a complete mistake >> no OL betting on Zach Wilson and getting us a defensive HC who can screw the pooch with his game time decisions Otherwise . It’s all wine and roses on the big Hope the last gasp before someone gets axed>>>Rogers plus Odell Beckham
Saleh just announced that Zach Wilson is our QB #2. “He’s our No.2,” Saleh said of Wilson. “I really still think Zach has a future in this league to be a really good quarterback, I really do. He has the work ethic, he has the mindset, he’s coming in here to attack it. But yeah, we’re counting on him to be a fixture here for a while." https://sports.yahoo.com/jets-robert-saleh-addresses-aaron-154343385.html
And what exactly has Zach done to deserve to be the number 2? He's played like hot garbage. At this point understand if Rodgers goes down? Our season is over if they plan to send Zach out there.....
