Since there's been a lot of smoke about Davis to Green Bay, it might be that he's Lazard's backup on the depth chart. He did improve this season.
Davis will be cut. rodgers like Davis and so does the staff and FO. He works hard plays hards and can block. Rodgers wants big targets too.
I hope people here who think he is a downgrade recognize he was second in the entire league for yards after the catch last year. Second only to Samuels. So spare me that he was only good because of the QB. As a replacement for Berrios he is a phenomenal upgrade, and he can play the slot . As a WR 3-4 he is a fantastic pick up.
I think he is what he is at this stage of the game. He’s a burner deep threat, YAC machine and someone that will run gadget plays just as good as anyone else in the league. The fact that the contract has incentive leads me to believe he’s going to get an opportunity to prove he can be a consistent slot player especially since we don’t have one right now.
Completely agree. Mecole Hardman as a free agent should be seen as the direct replacement for Braxton Berrios. I liked Berrios (partly as he had a long kick off return in London against the Falcons which led to a touchdown from Ty Johnson - which I know is slack, but there we are) but Hardman is clearly a major upgrade. Surely we can all see that?
Lets look at their last two years as a returner: Hardman Punt Returns - 19 averaging 11 YPR. Kick Returns - 3 averaging 13 YPR Berrios Punt Returns - 26 averaging 12 YPR. Kick Returns - 54 averaging 25 YPR That's not a major upgrade, or an upgrade at all.
For starters we both know why you went with Berrios’s numbers over the last two years rather than just last year. And second, Berrios played a lot in the slot for some reason and that’s where Hardman is going to be replacing him. He’s not just coming in to return kicks.
Hey, nobody has been more critical of Mims than I have, but he made some clutch plays in limited playing time, and that includes run blocks which he hadn't given much effort in the season before. He represented himself well in 2022, I have no problem giving him credit for it.
