Don't get me wrong Mann sucked, but when you’re kicking from your own 20 after a 3 an out, there is not much chance of pinning inside the 20.
He’s absolutely an upgrade. He graded out to be a top 10 punter last year and there was a noticeable drop off two years ago when Braden Mann returned from injury to replace him.
Being top 10 in two stats isn't the same thing as being a top 10 punter. In other statistics like Net Yards per Punt, Morstead was outside the top 20. Again, he's an upgrade over Mann, but he's not the same punter that he was several years ago, and he's not a top 10 punter.
I want the guy who pins teams inside the 20 more than other punters. He did that more than 25 others did last season. I mean who cares. Mann was pure garbage. Anyone else would be a huge upgrade.
We're all down on Mann but if he has even a functional offense chances are he has his best year as a pro. I'm not saying we should have kept him! Just don't be shocked when his new team is raving about him and our fanbase swings to " I knew we never should have gotten rid of him! JD is an idiot!"
