Huge regulation win last night vs the Sabres. I said before the Red Wings game that the Isles needed a 4-game regulation win streak. They are halfway there now. I do think the Isles will beat the Caps in regulation on Saturday, but Thursday at Pitt will be the toughest one to get. LGI
Down 3-1 entering the 3rd period and now 3-3 going to OT. Win in OT 4-3. What a win. Fuck you Penguins.
My lucky streak continues.... I got home in time to find a stream at the start of the 3rd period. (won't lie, almost didnt when I saw the score) YES YES YES
Saturday night sucked losing to the Caps. Now we go west for 3 games. Tomorrow night at LA will be tough. But the Ducks and Sharks both suck. No excuse not to come away with 4 points in those games. If they can get at least a point from LA, then I would consider that a win. LGI
This is the beginning of the end for an offensively weak Islanders team. A west coast trip of 3 games, Toronto and Columbus on their way back, then the Devils, Penguins and Capitals. It was a fun ride getting to the Wild Card spot but it’s over. They don’t have enough firepower to overcome this part of the schedule.
Not surprised they lost in regulation. This was going to be a tough game to win. They have to win the next two games. The Ducks and Sharks are bad. Just get 4 points in these next two games.
The only saving grace is the rest of the team chasing them are garbage. Kings are arguably the best team in the West now that they have a legit goalie, so I won’t hang my head too much on this loss other than the fact that it reflects how far we are from being a legit Cup contender.
Whatajoke this team is. Regardless of what happens the rest of this game, the fact that they are losing 2-1 to the Ducks in a must win game speaks volume about them.
LA is tough, you're right about them finally having a goalie. McClellan's 1-3-1 is so dull but man when they get ahead they are so tough to come back on. I pretty much go to every Vegas game (I'll see Calgary tomorrow) although I missed both Boston and Toronto this year. Of all the teams I've seen them play nobody has really dominated them the way the Kings have and that was with Copley.
First period wasn't great trailing 2-1 but they got the 2 points in a 6-3 win. Got to beat the Sharks this Sat night as well as that is another bottom feeder. Anything less than 2 points in that game is unacceptable. Of course, last night the Caps-Sabres is a 3-point game so no help on the scoreboard. LGI
Agree. 2 points is a must on Saturday night. The race is pretty tight so the Isles can't afford to lose any games like this against a lowly opponent.
Real nice game last night with a 7-2 blowout win over the Maple Leafs. They have won 3 in a row. 4 points up on Pitt and 3 up on FLA. The Isles looking like they will make the playoffs. No excuses not to beat the lowly Blue Jackets on Friday and the Sabres on Saturday. LGI
I was not expecting this but that’s what happens when the young guys start getting playing time. Bailey is out of the lineup as healthy scratch, is it just a coincidence that team is doing better without him? Team is learning to play without Barzal which is key for their confidence, in this stretch.
Games in hand have all disappeared for the teams on our tail. Isles control their playoff spot from here on out.
