I know a lot of people feel like this is a done deal, but the longer this goes on I'm starting to think he really doesn't want to play for us. Like seriously, how the hell can he not know if he wants to play at this point?
OK, if this tweet is true and Rodgers is actually trying to recruit someone to join the Jets, it's a good thing. Things are looking up now.
No. He's trying to sweeten the deal by inviting some of his favorite players to join the Jets. Diana Russini of ESPN already tweeted that Lazard and Thielen wanted in on playing with Rogers.
It’s done. You guys are nuts. Wingo has the scoop on Rodgers and he says it’s done. Relax and it will be announced soon.
He knows he's coming here, but he's not stupid. He's creating as much leverage as could be available to him by waiting for every other average-or-above QB to sign somewhere else. Then he can say, "I want this. I want that. I want that other thing. I want you to sign this guy ..." and if the Jets balk on any of it, he can ask what their predicted record with Plan B (Zach Wilson or Andy Dalton) is. I don't even think it's an issue about his own money; he's trying to force personnel decisions that he wants.
If this deal goes down and the compensation is in the general realm of what has been floated in the NFL zeitgeist for a few weeks now, I'm going to really, really, really enjoy reading some of these Packers fans reactions. At the same time, if Douglas somehow pulls off the first terrible trade of his tenure, I welcome all the cheeseheads coming here to read this post, and my subsequent meltdown.
I would possibly go literally insane for a few days if we gave up anything like that. I think that fan is forgetting how badly the Pack need Rodgers to go.
