A fully guaranteed long term contract for a ridiculous amount of money. Did you really not know what?

And what QB wouldn’t ask for a guarantee QB contract like Watson’s? He never asked for how much but wants a guaranteed contract.

Watson got 5 years, 230 mil. Why not Lamar?

And Deshaun hasn't played for years - not exactly iron man either, and had to miss 11 games of the first year due to suspension. Really it was a 4 year 230 mil deal because of the suspension. Not too many NFL 26 year old NFL MVPs are available on the open market.

Yeah - makes sense. I mean we may end up losing 5 days of the FA QB search if Baltimore matches, but honestly who is really left as a good free agent QB? With Carr and Jimmy gone, we lost our own back-up option Mike White, we basically already lost the main options. The rest is not really inspiring. And like I said before, from the CAP perspective Lamar will not block much the first year, the poison pill will be the guaranteed amount. Seems like a no brainer to me.

The thing is Lamar gets a bad rap about his demands which all he said he wants guarantee demands like Watson’s. And we re still not sure what that $ and the length he wants. 4-5 years as Borat pointed isn’t that outrageous if you ask me. I certainly hope JD has spoken with Lamar and see what he’s looking at. Maybe it is too much for the Jets. Maybe it’s worth a gamble. But point is, he still relatively young and comes to play. While I hate to lose two number one picks but until we know what the demands are, it is JD and Woody to decide if it is worth the gamble.

Two first round picks is not a huge price for 26 year old League MVP. Watson was traded for 3 first round picks (including coincidentally 13 overall), 3d, and a 4th.

We're not hiring him to design Mars rovers, we're hiring him to play QB for a football team, something we know he's pretty good at. For years we've heard how smart Wilson is watching hours upon hours of film. Maybe we should take the guy who knows how to play over the guy who studies for a change.

Injuries are a concern but in football, they always are.

I am with you. Not to say I wanted him but where we’re at now, it may not be a costly move at folks think. And remember those young QBs that the Bengals and Chargers are looking at in the near future are going to sky rocket. It s a QBs market whether we like it or not. Look at the AFC QBs we have to play against.

Where did you get his IQ information? Ravens record is substantially worse without him. I am just not sure how the low IQ has been determined?

I didn't think he would even be available. But he is now: at least to give it a shot, even if it fails. I mean we seemingly failed with Rodgers, lost on Carr waiting for Rodgers, I don't see better options out there, even if we end up losing on Lamar too.

It could be a matter of Ravens owner not willing to put 230 mil in the escrow account. Woody can have advantage there. He did say he is willing to spend for a QB.

I feel of all the QB's who are (were) out there, Jackson is the only one who gives us the best shot at a SB. Rogers' window is too small (1-2 years) plus the age factor. Carr, Garrapolo, Cousins, Tannehill, etc. would make the Jets winners, but a SB is less certain. 2 first round picks is not a big price to pay for what he gives this franchise. If Jackson performs as promised, the Jets won't miss those picks because, other than OL, the Jets are a pretty solid team (at least on paper.)
