Even if we don't get Aaron Rodgers I feel that Joe Douglas and his staff have done an excellent job holding on to their plan A and taking it down to the wire. They've done everything possible to get Roger's. Talking to him on Zoom and then flying out to California the day after with his staff to talk to Rogers. I won't be down on Joe Douglas or the Jets brass if we don't get Rogers. Plus in the middle of all this he got Clark dump Barrios, and reworked a bunch of contracts to get cap relief. Kudos to Joe and the Jets brass.. in Joe I trust.
I'm not going to call it a moral victory but all this b******* I've been reading about if we don't get Roger's Joe's got to go. If we don't get Rogers it's not because of a lack of effort by Joe Douglas and Jets brass. Sometimes things are just out of your control, like trying to trade for a player like Rogers with a unpredictable personality.
No offense to the OP but no, no kudos even if we don’t get Rodgers. We’ll still need a quarterback and the leftover options are not very appealing. They put on blinders to Carr, despite the reports that he preferred the Jets, so they could pull out all the stops to get Rodgers. If we fail to get him then the leftovers are several steps down and they’ll deserve all the criticism they’re likely to get. It’s Rodgers or bust, just like Woody mandated.
spoken like a true loser. is there anyone else in this whole damn city who isn't a pantsy ass loser?? "o' thank you for trying"... give us a break with your garbage and grow up. 40 plus years of terrible play and we should celebrate because they are doing their job? this world......
Thats a loser mentality. There are no moral victories here. Kudos to Joe D for having the worst quarterback room in the sport!
Carr is a bum.. I'm glad they didn't mortgage the future to get him. GB moved on from Rodgers last year and dumping Adams was the the final move... empty the roster so he'll leave or retire. Anything they get at this point is a positive for GB.
I don't agree with the premise of this thread at all. It's been far too long of a wait to even sniff the playoffs, let alone make the playoffs. There are no excuses. No thanks.
No kudos from me if the plan fails. He passed on Carr to pursue this, and if this was done without some sort of a back door assurance that it will get done, that is an abject failure.
And fix the damn offensive line! It's been 3 years Joe. What exactly was your expertise supposed to be?
I don’t understand how this is a bad thing. Put Cousins (or Carr) on last years Jets team and we are winning a playoff game. Put Rodgers on last years team and we are winning two and still getting sent home by the Chiefs or Bengals. And then we’d be looking for a QB the next year.
18-31 doesn't exactly scream Exec of the Year to me. The OL needs an infusion of talent again. We still need a QB, LB's that can cover and FS/SS that can both hit and cover. He's better than MacCagnan and Idzik but relatively speaking, being better than those two idiots isn't much. '23 is the year JD skills will be tested as expectations are running pretty high. Higher than the last decade I would say.
There were reports that Rodgers was Woody's call while staff wanted Carr. Carr contract can be gotten out of after 2-60 so he wouldn't have been hard to get if he truly preferred Jets. If JD couldn't sign Carr because of Woody, I am not sure how to blame JD for that. We probably will never know.
