If Rodgers retires, I’m guess Jimmy G is next on the list.

No, but in response to this post, I read it. I won't post about his drug use anymore. You have to admit my post was pretty funny though.

Aaron Rodgers is one of the top 10 QBs of all time. With another SB under his belt, maybe even top 5. The NFL isn't as rough on QBs as it was 10 or 15 years ago b/c of rules changes that protect the QB. Thus, 40 years old is not necessarily old for a QB and Rodgers has had minimal injuries. In addition, he keeps himself in great shape physically, mentally and spiritually. Finally, with the Jets, he would work with Hackett, a coach with whom he connects well. I think he's a great fit for the organization. I don't care about his unusual personal habits or medical choices or relationship with the media.

Spot on. I also think as a result the fans are now so used to that approach that expect dirt and feed on it, rather than reading actual performance of the team.

Seems quite a few in this thread alone care about that but I’m with you 100%.

Selfishly, no way he retires the same year as Brady and share the limelight for first ballot hall of fame with the GOAT.

Hawk and Rodgers are tight, McAfee even said if there's someone on the show who talks to Rodgers about football it's Hawk. This would imply he knows Rodgers is going to be the one to announce it.

So what you're saying is that AR and TB are in a retirement chicken game to see who blinks first and plays this year?

He also sat for a long time to start his career when they were rougher on quarterbacks theoretically adding even more tread on his tires.

That's an excellent point. I never thought of that. He sat for 3 years....no sacks, hits or arm strain.

I'm still having a hard time believing this is going to happen. There are so many moving pieces and it seems so unlikely that Rodgers would want this market as his last hurrah.

I saw on NFL.com that they are exercising his fifth year option

so looks like AR is not on their radar

This is weird. If a team is trading a player, you'd assume that player restructures with the new team. Either he was never going to be traded and this means nothing or... they know Rodgers is coming back and they need space to sign free agents.

I will agree with this. It's a hard sell to a guy that has known only one team that one of the greatest football franchises ever. Not only are we asking him to buy into the Jets (which is probably the easier sell) but we are also asking him to buy into the NY sports culture....the one that booed Derek Jeter among others. And besides that, he has to deal with the NY taxes and policies. I honestly wouldn't blame him for taking a pass. As much as New Yorkers think this is the greatest sports town ever, it really isn't. And it sucks to live here.

Do the Packers want Rodgers back? If he does that means Love sits for a 3rd year and the Packers have one year to make to decide whether they pick up his 5th year option. Shit, Rodgers might come back for another year after that and that leaves the Packers deciding whether they want to exercise that 5th year without Love ever starting a game.
