Aaron Rodgers Watch - Clock Ticking

The Jets have never been fundamentally sound in their reasoning since Parcells left town. One of the conditions of being a Jets fan is that they'll do really silly things at times.

I was hoping this meeting would be a little more too but it's the first step in the process. We should've known this whole thing wouldn't play out in a day or two, that's not Rodgers' style.

 

It just would’ve been nice to crawl before letting the better option sign with another team and maybe a little sooner than a week before free agency opens.

There's no reason to believe that any trade is going to happen before June 1st. That's what works for the Packers in terms of managing Rodgers existing cap liabilities.

The odds on the Jets successfully stringing out the process until then and still reliably getting Rodgers are low. There are several other teams that will be looking at Rodgers the whole time and it's in the Packers interest for several teams to be involved to drive up the price.

If I had to guess I think Rodgers goes to the Fins shortly after June 1st. The owner down there is a lot like the ownership here and you could argue that the Fins are better positioned to get two successful seasons out of Rodgers than the Jets are.

Actually, Johnson and Johnson is a publicly owned company with the lion's share held by large investment companies. If anyone in the Johnson family owns shares in the company it is a negligible amount below 100,000 shares; there are almost 2.7 billion shares outstanding.
