The delay with Carr is because Carr wants to meet with every team. He literally said so.

So he’s not going to retire after one year? What guarantees do you have of this? Why am I going through anything? Gee I don’t know, my favorite football team doesn’t have a quarterback and we’re no closer to a resolution than we were when the season ended perhaps. The team is putting every egg into the basket of a man that we have no idea if we’re even going to get him. By the time this is over the only other option on his level will more than likely have long since signed elsewhere putting us directly up against the wall. I’m stressed maybe because I don’t want to have to root for Jimmy fucking Garoppolo or Ryan Tannehill. Good enough reasons for you?

How are they putting every egg in Rodgers basket? They literally had Carr here and made him an offer. Carr said he wants to visit with every team interested in him and explore all options. Literally his words. Rodgers has no authority to move anything along himself.

it’s not that I think another team can jump in and offer a first rounder, it’s that even if both parties decide the marriage is over Green Bay has no incentive to take the first deal that comes their way. They have until the end of April to drag things out. It’s not like they are getting a mediate cap relief unless I am wrong which I definitely could be considering the amount of numbers floating around and how they vary from article to article.

Was the Carr visit another basket? Do you think L Jackson is a basket?

Going by the reports it sounds like far and away their biggest preference is Rodgers and they’re going to try and keep Carr on the back burner for as long as they can. It seems like they have one egg in the Carr basket and 99 in the Rodgers basket.

They absolutely can not force him to retire. Unless they want to pay him the rest of his contract while he sits on the bench. Which is exactly the worst scenario for the Packers. If he decides to stay they are in a mess and they can’t do much about it.

If he wants to delay I have no issue if the Rodgers decision is what is holding the Jets up, because, if Carr does finish his meetings and then approaches the Jets about wanting to play and the Jets are like "wait a couple days", he is going to be offended and change his mind. And if Rodgers decides to retire or stay a Packer then we get left with no viable QB.

He’s gonna be offended? What a pussy. Were we offended when he walked out the door saying he wanted to meet with all interested teams?

Well, when Aaron says he is willing to adjust, we are not talking about taking a penny less than what was already been guaranteed nor postponing the cash he was going to receive. He is getting at least 59 mil cash this year a 49 next year. What he might do is take some void/extra year(s) on the contract, which would split the CAP hit over more years, making it less for a given year. But we are still on hook for every penny of these 59 mil this year and 49 next year. Unless we can negotiate with GB to take on some of that money, which according to the tweet is what is happening now.

Right, that's been my hang up with Rodgers since this whole thing started. Either we're paying him 59M this year or we're extending that over the next few years, same with his cap hit next season.

IF we can trade for Rodgers for something less than a 1st AND get GB to eat some of that cap space, it's a dream scenario. I think that's unlikely but if Rodgers' market isn't as robust as we all thought it would be, maybe it's more likely than I think.

I'm honestly just tired of discussing all of this lol I really hope this whole situation is resolved by this weekend. I'm ready to focus on FA and the draft but I can't do that fully until I know who the QB is for the Jets next season.

I think by this weekend it will be definitely resolved. Hopefully the resolution will not be that we missed out on both Rodgers and Carr. I actually think it will be resolved any day now. I would be surprised if Derek's situation is not settled by Wed. And we have to be the ones getting him if we cannot reach the agreement with GB/Rodgers by then. The time is coming to make a decision - either way. But we need to get one of the two.

AKA, we'd have to give up more draft capital. Begging you Joe Douglas, move on from this guy and sign Carr.

Sap all that Quinnen Williams money for a half-inspired year of Aaron Rodgers

A slow start (1-3, 2-5) and we will get one of his "relax bro..." interviews. It could get ugly

This Rodgers talk is nothing but a stupid pipe dream setting up for the biggest rug pull in Jets history (he signs w. the Dolphins.) But that would be a blessing in disguise. Signing Rodgers Is taking on the Packers main problem (He drains too much $$ so you lose your FA's) on the hopes that your team can win a SB within 2 years.

Better to keep adding pieces through the draft. Build the Jets from the trenches out. Then any QB with a 60% passer rating and positive TD/INT ratio can get you in the hunt. Even a guy like Carson Wentz.
