Looks like there's a sliiiiiiiight possibility Zach gets moved.

no, they traded up to select Darnold that draft.... unless there's another Jackson you're referencing ;)

It shouldn't be all that surprising.

They're attempting to bring in a QB to start for at minimum two seasons. Jets will obviously not be guaranteeing his fifth year, so he'll be gone at the end of his fourth season. I don't know if they see him as a legitimate backup option. May as well see if you can get anything for him. There is always one GM that thinks he's smarter than the room.

!. How was Wilson "treated horribly"? Perhaps by playing?

    2. There is no "deep connection" between Wilson and Johnson.

    3. Why care about questions about an insignificant teammate? And pretty sure as soon as a real QB is on the scene Wilson will be all but forgotten.

    4. "Quality of life"? Not sure what you're getting at here, but I'm pretty sure point 3 covers it.

I wasn’t saying Wilson was treated horribly.

I was just answering your question as to why these veterans would want to know about Wilson and what might be on their minds

Have to move Wilson for whatever we can get at this point.

Clearly cannot count on him as a backup this season, and he only has 2 seasons left on contract.

It was the most massive whiff in franchise history. Embrace that and move him so the team can afford signing a more capable backup like White.
A move like that might just save a season, provided the GM can put their ego aside and do what’s best for the team.

I have to disagree with you here. If anyone knows the answer to those questions, it's a guy who's been around the league for a while and understands that there is no free ride; you need to earn your spot. Wilson hasn't.

It’s really mind numbing to me that people can’t seem to figure out this basic math. We control ZW for 2 more years. We’re looking to sign a veteran for at least 2 more years. The math is completely obvious, yet people are still like “we’re bringing in Rodgers to develop Zach because they’re friends”. 1- We’d be bringing in Rodgers to give us our best chance to win a SB in the next 2 years. 2- Rodgers would be here to be making his last push for that SB, he’s not working with Zach. 3- Rodgers couldn’t care less about developing Zach or anyone. 4- If it’s Carr as our QB he’ll be here even longer.

Out best solution is to trade Zach and use our 1st on Richardson or Levis. Sit him behind Rodgers for 2 years and have a fully baked and ready QB in 2025. Or waste our money on Carr, draft Richardson or Levis anyway, and we’ll be calling for Carr’s head after 2 years when we finally wake up and realize he’s as average as he’s always been with the Raiders.

Two things. First, Trading Zach would be a rather public admission that they fucked up the 2nd overall pick and are willing to eat what's left of a $35M guaranteed contract. Second, even an "average" Carr would be enough to get this team into the playoffs. An "average" Carr would still be a quantum leap over the QB room as it stands today. Worry not though, The Jets will find a way to fuck this up and we'll wind up with some C-list QB that the FO and Saleh will try to sell us on.. Its how the Jets roll.

An average Carr would have been enough to get last year's team into the playoffs, where we got gifted a bunch of wins against other teams' backup QBs. It may not be enough to get this year's team into the playoffs.

I think the plan is obvious. If it’s Rodgers they hold onto Zach and hope he can develop.

If it’s Carr, you move on and hope you can get something back for him.

I mean, isn’t signing a high profile veteran for at least 2 years thus negating any chance Zach has here going forward that same public admission? Might as well get something for it. As for Carr, you keep coming at me with this argument. I have no doubt Carr will be better than what we’ve had for the past 10 years. No doubt at all. I expect Carr to be exactly what he is in his 9 year career. What I do t expect is for him to come here playing half his season in NE weather conditions and be any better than he’s been for 9 years. We’re not a better run organization than the Raiders. Offensively we’re really not much better than any of Carr’s past offensive teams. Carr has never elevated the Raiders, to expect him to do so here is just wild dreams. Carr would be exactly what he’s been.. decent enough that you know you could do a lot worse, but alas just decent.

Its obvious to you that we’ll be extending Zach Wilson’s contract?

He’s going into his 3rd year, why in the world do you need to extend his contract?

Because he has 2 years left. If we sign Rodgers it’s going to be for 2 years. So again, what are you paying Zach Wilson as a FA to stay here after 2 years of absolutely horrid play followed by 2 years of sitting on the bench? Or do you want us to exercise his 5th year option for millions now?

Don’t really care about 2 years from now. You develop him for a year behind his idol and they’ll have a better idea this time next year if he’s figured anything out.

You don’t have to extend him now, your not getting anything for him and I doubt the cap hit from trading him now would be very friendly. Makes absolutely no sense to get rid of him now if Rodgers is indeed the guy.

This may be a watershed moment in the history of TGG.com. I actually rate the Jet roster higher than you do. I also rate the Jet roster higher than the Raider roster. Organizationally, The Raider Organization gets the nod mostly because of the Al Davis lineage and they managed to get their own state of the art stadium in Las Vegas while we managed to get a mausoleum in a Jersey swamp that we have to share. Defensively, we are better than the Raiders and should remain so for the length of Carr's stay with us. Any improvement on the offensive side of the ball means a playoff appearance. The relative calm that Carr brings vs. the Circus that's coming with The Legend should seal the deal with anyone that lived thru the Rex/Tebow years. If he's playing in cold NE weather, that's at most some snow or rain. Nothing below zero. The weather just isn't as much of a factor in the AFC as I've pointed out, there's truly only one really cold venue and we don't play there very often. Kansas City is colder than Pitt, Cinn, Clev, Buf and Foxboro. Besides, in weather like that the running game usually takes over. All Carr would have to do is make the occasional chain moving throw when required to the OROY and a returning Breece Hall.

You get his contract off the books. that’s better than nothing. He’s 50/50 going to be good in NFL at best.

The Jets can't trade Zach Wilson right now. Nobody is going to take on the $9M in cap hits that would entail given what he's shone so far.

So, they can't trade him, can't play him, can't save him.. Kinda makes Zach dead weight.

What i don't get is the waiting for AR. From everything I read the pack wont let him go however till after june 1. I never trust handshake agreements with flaky people, so waiting for AR certainly means not getting Carr and possibly not Rodgers. What is plan C?
