I think at this point AR knows what he wants to do and I’m excited to find out.

Conjecture based off what we know is fun; conjecture based off other people’s conjecture is a problem.

I'm not going to pretend I know all the details about the West Side stadium and what his options were after it was blocked. All I know is he did try to get us our own stadium after Hess moved the team to Jersey because he was unhappy with the pissers at Shea, lol.

Carr is definitely not a has been, he’s basically been a never been. Not trying to be mean but the guy really hasn’t done squat in 9 years. 2 playoff appearances and no wins in 9 years, 4 pro bowls, 2 of which were as an alternate because the actual pro-bowler was either hurt or still in the playoffs. He’s been an average guy this far. Certainly better than what we’ve had, he’s not a bum by any means. But he hasn’t lifted the Raiders to anything, and ai don’t foresee how we could expect him to come in and lift the Jets. It’s quite the opposite, with Carr everyone’s hoping that our team full of talent carries the load and Carr just doesn’t get in the way. I’m fine with that until you’re talking multiple years and big money.

I will contend our answer is and always will be in the draft. Until we draft a guy who’s a bonafide elite QB we’re going to continue this cycle of bust QB followed by FA mediocrity followed by futility followed by desperation overdrafting of bust QB. We need to stop looking for FA stopgaps and keep drafting QB’s until we hit. To me Aaron Rodgers is the answer because he’s a significant short term upgrade over Carr and he’ll be out of here in a year or 2 when we should be drafting our future.

You are right. Carr is definitely a "never been" with regards to he's never been even a 1/4 as bad as the QB's we had since Pennington. I'll give you that.

That’s not up for debate, I’m not arguing that. He’s also never lifted his team. We’re the Jets and we’re seriously expecting our team to lift Carr? This is the next cycle of Fitzpatrick or McCown. We failed at drafting a guy so we’re knee jerk reacting to whatever the market gives us. We do this all the time and it’s proven over and over that it doesn’t work. Average QB’s over a decade don’t suddenly turn into elite guys. And even the most ardent Carr supporters know he isn’t elite. So then the argument is that “we don’t need elite, we need competent”, and my argument is what does competent actually get us? Kirk Cousins is way more competent than Carr, it doesn’t mean anything. Is playoff appearances with quick exits out consolation prize? Is that what we’re cool with? We draft talent for the first time in forever and decide competence at QB is the goal for the ceiling at the position for the next 4-6 years?

Rodgers is clearly the best QB option available in terms of winning games next season.

There's just so many potential pitfalls, so many moving pieces, so much drama, and so much stupidity to deal with when it comes to actually installing him as the QB of the Jets.

If they can get it done, cool. I trust Douglas. But Sundays better be enjoyable then, because the rest of it is going to be a sh*tshow for me personally.

Yes, only because I don't believe either of the assumptions in your post are accurate. Could be, but I sincerely doubt it. Raiders and Titans seem like they are out (could be smoke screens) so it just leaves us, Packers or retirement.

Your post said 1st round pick for a 1 year rental. I believe that it won't take a 1st and he would commit to minimum 2 years. Again all speculation, that's just what I see happening.

That's fair. I honestly don't think he will play for more than a year, but the draft compensation might not be a first round pick . But it will be more than it is for Carr (0) and Carr would play longer than Rodgers. Is that fair?

Aaron Rodgers is not worth a 1st round pick. Period.

Not even a Jets 1st round pick.

it’s not going to cost a 1st rounder unless there’s a contingency of us winning the SB attached to a 2024 pick, and yes that’d be worth it.

Carr will play longer, that’s obvious. That’s also the problem. We’re gonna be stuck with the guy for years and we’re going to regret it.
