Sam was better than Zach in his last year with the Jets, but not by much. Zach: YPG: 187.6 Rating: 72.8 Int% 2.9 comp% 54.5 Sam: YPG: 184 Rating: 72.7 Int% 3.0 comp% 59.6 I don't think the difference between the two is the equivalent of a 2nd round pick. Obviously, it's my opinion, but if JD could get a 2nd and 5th for Sam, he could get a 3rdish for Wilson. That wasn't really meant for you exclusively, just in general for people who are saying he'd fetch a 5th or 6th at best.
probably the best option for him….good HC who was a QB, weakest division in a weak conference, strong defense….no brainer to me. while we can argue that we have a better team around him, it’s not like it’s night and day better…and in the NFC it’s a MUCH easier road to the playoffs in a shit division and not having to deal with the likes of Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, etc
Zach's value is way lower. Sam had a promising second year. Then in the 3d year had no weapons (Perriman top WR) and the coach who was widely considered a bum by that point. A lot of Sam's 3d year failures were attributed to the Jets. In Zach's case, he never had a year anywhere near what Sam had in his second season, his coaches are reputable (even MILF is still an OC now) and he had some elite weapons. Also, the fact that JD raped Panthers in Sam's trade lowers the value for these recycled QBs. Jets can probably get a 5th rounder for Zach, but not much more. But ultimately the won't get much. And #1, it's a terrible look to trade Zach for the 5th, #2 , at 23 years of age, he is probably still a better prospect than another development later round guy. It makes sense to keep Zach for now, see what he does this offseason, see how he plays in preseason. He may raise his value then for a better trade or develop into a serviceable back-up with the new OC.
That may be true if some other GM has the kind of brain freeze the guy in Carolina had when he made the deal for Darnold. I haven't seen a single commentary by an NFL insider or a message board mope who believes Carolina made a good deal. With the contract Wilson is carrying I can't see any team willing to pick it up.

My point is just playing for the jets does not limit the family to live in NJ. There are some of the nicest neighboords in the US within commuting distance, excellent schools, supported of course by high taxes, a variety of environments from very urban to nicely rural and so on. There are even some nice areas of Jersey. So Mrs. Carr can do some touring to see for herself. And anywhere in wesrchester or eastern connecticut is closer to a beach than charlotte. If you care about things like your kids' education while you're making millions of dollars then living in some of the higher taxed states makes perfect sense.
