Thanks for posting the one thing that comes to me is that I feel like he does have a plan…which I haven’t felt about any of our GMs in a long time… I hope it works out
I'm glad to see that all other options are being considered while Rodgers decides if/when to bother telling anybody what he wants to do. His darkness retreat ended six days ago, didn't it? Imagine being in this situation next year, with him unable to decide whether or not to play another season and us wondering whether or not we need a new quarterback. Now of course Rodgers has the right to play this exactly how he wants, but it's difficult not to get ticked off with this 'will I, won't I' drama.
Thanks for posting these @NOVAJET Interesting that Joe doesn't want to commit on picking up Becton's 5th year option. Not sure how Mekhi feels about it.
This might sound crazy, but I think I would gamble and pick up the option. If he's healthy and plays 17 games, he's probably going to get a short-term deal with a high annual salary, and it's not going to be with the Jets. The option is $13.5 million. It's a lot to pay a guy who has played one game in 2 years. It's a gamble but I think I would do it.
I hope to gosh hismplan involves Carr. We can't give a first rounder for rodgers. I hope becton bounces back too. Him staying healthy makes our team a lot better
I can't blame Douglas for that. Forget about the fact that the last two years of lost time weren't Becton's fault, the fact remains that he's only really seen him play one year.
I do not believe JD will pick up 13.5 mil option on a guy who played well only one season and hasn't played in two years due to injury. Too much risk. Maybe if he were a later round pick, where # is smaller, but how to do commit 13.5 mil to the guy, whom you can't count on at all and most likely will be drafting replacement for? I just don't see it. If he plays well this season, there will be ways to resign him.
I'm still firmly in the pro Rodgers camp but there would have to be something in the deal that pushed some money or something into year 2. He would have to commit for 2 or no deal. Was thinking the same thing, I would.
There is no way Joe picks up that option, time to move on from a guy who has not been healthy. That’s money that can be used to give to the 1st round tackle they will draft in this years draft. I would be very disappointed if Joe does pick up Bectons 5th year option.
Not saying JD will, just that I would take the gamble. If he plays well this year, then you have an OT on a relatively cheap one year contract with a chance to maybe extend. I wouldn't care either way. I just think it might be worth the gamble.
Thank you for posting. The more I listen to JD and watch him operate, the more I think we hit a home run with him. Now, if we hit one more home run with a QB and another good draft, we are home free.
Yeah i have more faith in him than i have had in any gm in recent history, but it's all for shit unless we start winning games
