MVP is not about championships. When you demand $50M a year you are costing your team the chance to compete at the highest level. The Packer's response was to let Devante Adams go because they couldn't pay him and Rodgers both.

Rodgers, BTW had $300M+ in career earnings before signing the deal. Clearly winning a championship came second to getting paid as the highest-paid player to him.

I know a lot of people take less money than they’re worth or less money than they can make on any open market for the benefit of their colleagues.

He wanted out, wanted to play with Carr.

"According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Adams was actually offered more by Green Bay than the five-year, $140 million contract he signed with the Raiders. Rapoport, however, said Adams "didn't want to be there.""

Rodgers has nothing left to prove. That’s why you don’t trade for him. He’s not hungry enough. Let him finish out in GB where he belongs.

Brady had to prove he can do it without Belichick.

No, it would have been extremely dumb to flip a #2 overall into a late first and a 5th round pick at best when the kid had just 13 games under his belt and shown improvement. JD would have been crucified and rightfully so.

It's not like they had the #1 overall the next year and a chance to draft a "trevor lawrence" caliber QB to replace him like what happened with Rosen and Murray.

Winning a title on the NY Jets would cement his legacy. He has all these MVPs and playoff appearances, but only one Superbowl win. He's got a big ego and I think winning another title is important to him, if not for his team, for his own personal legacy. Or maybe he's done and is going to retire. Guess we'll find out soon.

There's nothing wrong with cutting your losses and ZW clearly was not an NFL QB after his first season.

The second time Saleh had to grit his teeth and talk about the "easy stuff" it was clear he wasn't an NFL QB.

You're changing the narrative; now you're assigning a particular value to the guy. What we've seen is that he got no better last year which means his value has dropped even farther and the chance of moving him has gotten worse. Unless, of course, you believe the Jets can easily move him and profit or lose less than a year ago. Then, there's the progress the Jets, as a team, may have made if they weren't still planning around the guy. The sooner the team gets back to square one and can move ahead the better. A year at idle was a year wasted.

How many accolades a guy has in his past is meaningless now; the important stat is how many he has in his future. I put Carr way ahead of Rodgers in that category, and at a much lower cost in time, money and ability to bring in others. I thought Rodgers was going to meditate, not pray - maybe I missed something.

What accolades do you expect a guy who’s played a decade with no accolades to show for it? Last year Rodgers could’ve packed it in with his injured thumb and the team all but out of the playoffs. Nobody would have even thought twice about it and his resume would still have us talking about the fact he was a back to back MVP just a season before. And with that fucked up thumb at 38 years old he still put up a season equal to just about anything Carr has ever done minus one season. You’re talking total nonsense. Total complete nonsense. Rodgers would be here 2 years max, cost us contingent upon how much he plays and what he accomplishes here. GB wants him out and he’s only got a couple years left before he retires. He’s not going for a first rounder unless it’s a future 1st rounder for having won a SB here, which I’d take in a heartbeat.

Usually when you take ayahuasca - you're trying to get rid of your ego. I think he's done. But if he wants to be a Jet, I would gladly take him and enjoy a fun/wild 2023 season.

Great! I'll take my "total complete nonsense" and look to the future - you keep looking back at what a guy used to be. Rodgers' team was not only "all but out of the playoffs," they were out of the playoffs for real. Is there a particular reason you choose to disregard Carr's honors while pumping those of Rodgers?

What honors of Carr? His mostly average decade of a career? His zero MVP titles, his zero playoff wins? His zero times leading the league in any major passing category? Hell, even his pro bowl appearances were mostly as an alternate. Oh it’s the Raiders fault right? Because the Jets are such a well run organization, I’m certain they’ll carry Carr. Riiiiiiight.

Carr is average to just above average. He always has been and that’s just who he is. It’s a lot better than our current situation but Aaron Rodgers played as well as most of Carr’s career last season with a busted up thumb. The season before he was league MVP. Carr for a year or 2, fine. Carr for 4-6 years is suicide for this rebuild.

Just to be clear, what Rodgers did last year would’ve been the 4th worst year of Carr’s career.

Hats off to Rodgers for battling through the thumb injury and having a solid year but no need to fabricate narratives.

Carr has been in the league for 9 years. 4th best is just under half. You want to spilt hairs to convince yourself so I’ll say it differently. Aaron Rodgers with a busted up thumb as 38 years old still played better than almost half of Carr’s career. Does that make it better?

If you look at QBR, Carr has never had a season as low as Rodgers was last year. 39.3 is not good.

QBR is a proprietary formula by ESPN. I have not been a fan of it to rate overall QB performance. I know some people feel otherwise, but to me it was always all over the place. I remember Sam had a stretch where he was a top QB in QBR, I think in the second half of his second season, and while I thought he did OK, I never quite understood why he was rated so high. Maybe because QBR formula is trying to do too much with conventional stats.

To me passing rating seems to be the most accurate to evaluate a passer. You then need to make an adjustment for total yards the guy passed, running game, etc... For example, if a guy has a passer rating of a 100, but he passed for 120 yards per game, you probably don't put that much weight into the rating. QBR I think is trying to account for things like that, but does not always do it accurately. The more variables you are trying to account for, the less accurate the result. We don't even need to go far for an example. Zach to me was very bad this year. I think most here would agree, and he was 4th string by the end of the year. Yet somehow his QBR is very similar to Rodgers.

I think the best way to evaluate if you want to look at the stats, is take passer rating, and then consider other factors yourself. In the case of Carr and Rodgers, Carr did pass for a few more yards per game and had fewer fumbles, Aaron had 1 rushing TD more, so an argument can be made they were close statistically last year.
