Yes he did. And probably no amount of money would've convinced him to play on a sad sack team like the Jets instead of a sure SB contender like the Chiefs, but did Douglas even try to overwhelm him with enough money that he couldn't say "No"? We'll never know of course. Just like we'll never know what Douglas is actually doing and trying. Al we can do is judge the end results, and those don't speak highly of his efforts in building a good OL.

This is the best case scenario for Mekhi and the Jets. If he can keep his weight at an acceptable level and stay healthy, this OL could look drastically different this year.
He was released with a "failed physical" designation. He's played 20 games over the last 3 years. Not sure if this is the guy you want to replace Becton. Between the two of them you might get 8 starts.
I think Becton is over rated but hopefully he proves me wrong. Is AVT due to be ready by camp? hope we pick up one of the top OL in their first pick and get a Center in mid rounds.
Philly's pass rush was #1 with 77 sacks....4 players had double digit sacks....yet no one managed to touch Mahomes a single time the entire game. Was it due to their super duper O-line? Maybe not. I recall the Bills/Burrows playoff game in the snow. I guess QB's LOVE playing on a snowy field....why? ZERO pass rush. Fast forward to the SB. The new sod turf was terrible....players hated it, slipping, falling all game. Same as if it had snowed, zero pass rush. Pass rushers just couldn't set their feet to get around the edge. Mr McGoo coulda been the Chiefs LT and no one would have gotten close to Mahome, all due to the terrible field conditions.
I'd keep Becton honestly. The 2023 season could end in disaster and we'd have a whole new coaching staff next year with possibly a new offensive scheme with possibly man blocking. Becton is much better suited for a man blocking scheme.
