But both those trades were disasters. So I'm not sure they help the cause here. NFL teams learn from mistakes. I think someone would give something for Wilson, I wouldn't hold my breath on anything bigger than a 4th. He might be a good option to trade for another player actually. A similar scenario of a guy who was drafted highly and hasn't lived up to that expectation
After 2 years Rosen was worth nothing. In Rosen's rookie season he looked like a leader on a really bad team. Zach just looked continually lost. We should have traded him last offseason when he had value and taken one of the mid round QB values that littered last draft.
How's he gonna recruit more FA's? We gonna have to release Lawson, Whitehead, Corey Davis and Berrios just to begin to find room to sign Carr. Not to mention our own pending FA's, especially along the OL.
You don't have to buy it because he most likely won't even garner a 5th or 6th. Don't ever say he's getting a 2nd or 3rd again. That's a flat out dumb fuck lie. You, just like the other kid. Say no to drugs!!!
How did you come up with Rosen looking like a leader his rookie year? If you compare Wilson and Rosen to each other on rookie year only with situations factored in, they’re virtually the same thing. I do think that hurts Wilson’s potential trade value a lot but I don’t see how they’re much different at all thru 13 games.
If you watched the Cards he actually ran the offense pretty well. He ran two minutes drills well. He looked like a decent QB in a terrible offense.
I have no idea. Maybe it's not a current FA but a trade candidate that's not known as of right now? No one knew Tyreek Hill was going to be traded until basically the day he was traded. Have to imagine Carr moves the needle for those kinda guys a lot more than ZW, Jimmy G, Tannehill, etc.
We give A Rogers an easy layup a slow pitch down the middle by signing his favorite teacher N Hackett and... Jeopardy mans response ??? I am going into a Cave for Silence lmao!..Let's just say at the very least we are winning more games on Sundays with Carr (imperfections aside)...and I am all in !! So at least my fuck*n weekend isn't mostly ruined by Jets losing and losing ahaha. Do we make the Playoffs with DC?? ..well just maybe but JD and Saleh might ruin the Journey take my word for it cause they have ALREADY ruined the so called "rebuild" with NO winning record to speak of!! This desperate bunch>>>JD RS and the whole rest of the Coaching Arm plus Woodheady Johnson would be absolute morons to wait on Rogers veiled NO response to NYJ and delay signing D Carr Lets see if someone FINALLY does something smart
I highly disagree, because the fanbases that have those QBs hate them. See Raiders with Carr, Vikings with Cousins (who is far better than Carr btw), etc. The QBs that are better than average but will never be franchise are the most frustrating because you are held hostage - you won’t win a Super Bowl but you won’t lose enough games to be in a position to take a franchise guy in the draft. It’s the worst spot to be in for a franchise. That’s what the jets would be signing up for with Carr.
Matt Stafford and the Rams fanbase would disagree with this train of thought. EDIT: Also hilarious that you think Cousins is "far better" than Derek Carr despite having nearly identical stats on a per game basis. For those that don't want to click the link, here are Carr's and Cousins Per Game stats. YPG: Carr: 248 Cousins: 261.5 TD: Carr: 1.5 Cousins: 1.8 INT: Carr: 0.7 Cousins: 0.7 CMP/ATT=CMP %: Carr: 22.5/34.9=64.4% Cousins: 22.9/34.3=66.7% I'm willing to listen to someone saying they think Cousins is better, but I don't think that's this slam dunk of a conversation considering what Cousins has had to work with for his career vs Carr.
To your point. People seem to forget that if you look at his yearly stats, this past year was his lowest of the last 4 yet still pretty good. Year before, his stats with a different HC were off the roof better and was ranked the 4th best QB in the league. Carr would uplift this team to a level they have not seen since well, possibly B Favre before he got hurt.
You are missing the point. I don’t care to argue who is better between the two because it doesn’t matter. The point is they are in the same tier of quarterbacking, a tier of guys who have proven they don’t have what it takes to win a Super Bowl.
Well that's the game because the FO has painted itself into a corner at the QB position, and now the options are going to be costly. If i'm doling out big $, I want an elite QB, even if that costs a draft pick as well. Paying avg QB's elite money, and long term to boot, just doesn't work as we've seen around the league. It takes too many resources away from other areas of the team, without the ability to overcome those resources. I like Carr, and think he's tough and would be well received in locker room. But he's an average at best player, that will command elite bucks. I don't see winning a championship with him, or even tough cold Northeast games in Dec and playoffs. I'd rather go after the elite QB, or go middling stop gap while drafting again. If we do sign Carr, I'm onboard as it's an obvious major upgrade. Just mixed feelings as i know there will be lasting ramifications in doing so.
I mean you either have an elite quarterback by way of the draft or you have to take your chances in getting one a tier below and hoping the stars align while they have a top 14 QB season and get hot in the playoffs. He’s obviously not clutch but Carr reminds me a lot of Eli. Good guy, student of the game who controls the LOS well. Not the most accurate passer but maybe we grab him and he gets hot at the right time with a good pass rush?
Rosen looked even worse if that's possible. Miami blew a 2nd. i'm not sure any team will be willing to make that mistake again based on Zach's tape, but i guess you never know.
Right now the Jets would be well off if we got a 5th back for ZW. Gets most of his cap hit gone and leaves us room for actual players. BTW all the things the Carr camp is leaking right now suggest strongly that he does not want the Jets but he wants people to think otherwise so he has some leverage. I doubt the Jets left anything off the table when they talked to him. They probably made him a fairly strong offer and he walked away from it to see what else was out there. This is a bit like the Leveon Bell situation except there was nothing else out there for Bell and he had to come back to the Jets for the offer they made.
My question... why do people think the Jets made an offer to Carr? I haven't seen one credible article, tweet, anything about an offer. In fact, I haven't seen anything from anyone saying an offer was made. So, if anyone has a link, please post it. While it seems the Carr meeting went well, it seems to me that the Jets are focused on AR. Of course, everything at this point is speculation. If I was Carr, & I surmised that I was the Jets #2 choice, I'd be inclined to look elsewhere. So, either the Jets already have an agreement with the Packers, depending upon AR's 'verdict' when he sees light, or the Jets are really gambling that Carr would sign with them, after their actions say he's #2. And that's my concern, if AR opts-out of Jetsland. Will the Jets be forced to choose the QB behind door3, 4, or 5? .
