When he was on the field he was good. They’re not signing someone and bumping him to the bench. They’ll sign Minshew or Dalton. Or maybe bring back Bridgewater
You want to tie up Carr for 4 years? Yikes. I hope it would be at a very favorable team friendly contract with outs in it.
The real question is why would you not want to lock up your QB for four years? There’s no such thing as a player-friendly contract anymore. Most NFL contracts give the team an out after half the contract has run its course. I’d be upset if we ended up going with Carr and didn’t give ourselves the option to have him for at least three years.
I just realized I never submitted this answer to you the other day. Honestly, in another thread I think I answered this for you but I’d rather have Rodgers. For one I’m not so convinced it’ll cost a 1st rounder, and I think you might get 2 years out of it. But if I’m facing your scenario, I’d rather Rodgers. Carr is the equivalent of what we got from Fitzpatrick imo. It can be entertaining but it will undoubtedly result in disappointment. I don’t want to be tied 4 years to him (and I also think he’s going to be holding fast for a 6 year deal)
What do you think, 3 years is going to get the job done? The players are not looking out for the team’s finances, they’re looking for financial security. You have to give something to get something
Second highest drop % and second best on target rate. WRs also suck at separation. It appears Rodgers is still the man. We give him GW and Moore, and watch out. Still #1 choice for the starting QB in 2023 in my book.
Rodgers don’t get to use the talent around him as an excuse since he pushed out all the talent over the years by being a dickhead
If they sign Rodgers the narrative is we gave up draft picks for a the rental of an aging QB who is a self centered prick that might not even play two seasons. If they sign Carr, the narrative is we overpaid for an average at best perennial loser whose own team didn't want him. Am I missisg anything? Also, we need to do Tannehill, Garoppolo, Minshew and Brissett. I want to be on the same page!
It's been one of the most frustrating things about this fanbase over the last few weeks. Both sides looking to discredit the other to make "their guy" look better. Bottom line, both guys (Carr or Rodgers) would be massive upgrades to this team. That's really all that should matter but somewhere along the way it became paramount that everyone agrees on who the best option is for the Jets and if you don't agree then f*** you. As long as the Jets come away with one of those 2 guys over the next few weeks, I'll be happy.
Well last season he threatened retirement all offseason until they gave him $150 million contract and couldnt afford to keep one of the games best recievers anymore
yup and the sad part is that ANY of Minshew, Brissett, Mayfield, Dalton would ALSO be MASSIVE upgrades from what we’ve had. middle of the road average QB is a real upgrade when we’ve had Bottom 3 QB play
You're not wrong but I refuse to accept a reality of one of those guys being under center for the Jets next year when Carr or Rodgers is still an option haha
