Ye, Douglas can't be that stupid to keep repeating his glaring fireable error. Trade up down or sideways like you said in Post to get a number of good OLs..and I wonder if we have enough money to both get a vet QB and Linemen
Vet QB is probably a decent buy on a 2 year deal. I think we've shot our wad on vet OL at this point. Need to build the line the right way through the draft.
Who says Douglas is not fixing the line through free agency? We have to Draft an OL in the 1st round????? because you said so? lololol.
We've seen the result of Douglas fixing the line through free agency. Three years in a row where the line collapsed by mid-season and we were in trouble after the bye. That's why I think he has to fix it in the draft. Adding more 29-30 year olds just increases the odds on season-ending or altering injuries.
Besides, Wilson, and Breece who else do we have on offense that strikes fear on any defense?? We need another high impact receiver so we don't see anymore 8 men fronts. We can try to sign Dilliard from the Eagles Douglas was there when he was drafted.
Michael Mayer is going to be one of those TEs that shows up on highlight reels in the NFL, I want one of those guys.
3 of our 5 projected starters were drafted by JD. I hate to keep pointing out your complete lack of facts when replying to your posts so can you do a modicum of research or maybe just like follow the Jets to get the slightest bit of accuracy.
Uh, ,the part about the OL collapsing by mid-season three years in a row? I get that you're just here to stir up trouble but maybe you could take your own advice and follow the Jets?
the part about how JD needs to start building the OL thru the draft. Wow. YOU don’t even read YOUR posts.
I think to Brad’s point, the OL through FAs hasn’t really bode too well and now the Jets only have 5 OL under contracts, AVt, Becton, Max Miller, Brown and Tomlinson. All but Tomlinson ended the final game of the season either on injured reserved or injured. Regardless it was a year of filled injuries for the jets OL and saw a total I believe 18 OL picked up for a total of $23M during 2022 season. Now we only have 5 OL under contract from what I read. Bottom line we need OLs via draft and FA!
Interesting take… besides C, where do we need starters. Depth, definitely…. But where are the starters lining up?
Do you trust Becton? McGovern is most likely a goner. What happens if we get hit with injuries like last season?
It sounds like you’re talking about having quality backups and good depth. Totally agree. Great point.
It seems like backups only sign 1 or 2 year deals —so while I agree that we need to add depth across the board, a starting C and possibly and upgrade at RT, —I’m neither surprised nor concerned that we do. Give me 2 OL in the top 75 in the draft, a cap causally and a couple JAGs and IMO we’re in good shape.
I think OT at 13 makes the most sense, but what if the top three are gone and a trade down isn't viable? WR should be a consideration, but I bet they would consider Brian Branch. The guy sounds like an immediate high-end starter and would fill a need. CBs were fantastic but safety was an issue most of the year. Also sounds like a JD/Saleh-type of guy
If the top 3 OT's are gone by 13 the pick will be extremely valuable in a trade down. Either there will be a QB that people are ready to draft at that point or somebody else will have slid because the OT's were over-valued in the draft.
