The same people that said they didn't want him would immediately revert in a wallowing puddle of self pity and talk about how the Jets can't have nice things. This is the cycle.
The thing is what are the Jets possibly getting for Zach a fifth round pick? It will make Douglas and Saleh look really stupid that missed so badly on their coveted #2 pick. I think they hold onto him for a year or two and see if they can turn him around.
Miami has a ton of talent on defense ,Boyer sucked as a coach. Get a real DC in there they become real scary
Lol, the Jets will be lucky if they get a bottom feeder like Minchew, there's going to be some butt hurt fans when the smoke clears, same garbage every off-season
I hate it, but I think this is the most likely scenario. Jimmy G will look like a savior compared to what we end up with.
I think you are probably right. Not too many veteran guys going to want to sign up for a place where the coach and GM are walking the plank. Rent. Don't buy for a year and see what happens haha Maybe in 2024 it will be a more enticing place where they know they will join a new (hopefully respected) regime
I would take Minchew. Keep stockpiling talent. Draft a project to learn behind him with ZW. Phuck AR.
There is no point to trying to turn Zach around. He’ll be sitting behind a vet for at least the next 2 seasons, at which point he’ll be a FA. We’re already committing to a vet, what we ought to do is float a lot of stories of the “marked improvement” Zach made this offseason. Pay Steve Young and Chris Simms to go on their platforms praising the transformation of Zach Wilson so during TC when some team loses their QB they might be desperate to part with a 3rd or 4th rounder. Otherwise just take what we can get. He’s now worthless on our roster because you can’t count on him as a backup and you can’t be paying your practice squad QB 10m dollars.
Definitely a possibility. I lost all my faith in this franchise and coaching staff after that 6 game collapse and how Zach Wilson was treated. The news that they are looking to acquire a top veteran QB excited me again though. If they fail to do that, there won't be much reason to be optimistic or care about the 2023 season.
Looks like Rodgers's odds have drastically flipped in Raiders' favor: https://www.si.com/nfl/packers/news/rodgers-next-team-odds-take-major-flip - Las Vegas Raiders, -150 (60%) - New York Jets, +250 (28.6%) Not looking great now...
It looks more and more like it's Vegas unfortunately. Lamar and the Ravens are reportedly not close to a deal but I don't love the idea of getting him, gadget player and often injured. Not to mention would be expensive af.
I feel like this is another one of those situations where we are going to be incredibly let down because of something we hyped up on our own based solely off speculation.
The problem isn't that we probably won't get Rodgers, the problem Douglas/Saleh hired a guy for OC whose biggest positive is he did a good job carrying Rodgers's Gatorade, and we're stuck with him regardless.
The Jets are one missed playoffs away from dumping the entire coaching staff. Why would any veteran player hitch their career to that?
