In recent years in the NFL, field goals have been getting longer. It wasn't long ago that a 50+ yard field goal was rare. Now they are commonplace. What has changed?
Better technique. Stronger legs. Like StinkyB said athletes are just better at everything these days. I remember a day when kicking off from the 40 usually turned into a runback. These days kicking off from the 35 is usually a TB.
The answer is the kickers got better. I mean Olympic gymnastics looked like this less than 100 years ago.
I've suggested drafting a kicker on day 3 last year and the year before. McPherson was someone I had picked while doing the simulated mocks on PFN.
