Sheesh! Who is this kindler, gentler, more reasonable JonathanVilma? What have you done with him? I'd agree with what you wrote here, but I'm not sure it's allowed under the rules.
Love the premise of this thread. I said it on another thread, but the curse can only be lifted when a QB with retired number 12 on the back of his Jersey wins the SB. Biggest upset since the miracle Mets. Get it done AR.
I voted Yay. I was against Favre coming here because I thought he'd just bring a media circus without winning a SB for us. Also, I thought it would push back our search for a real FQB who could lead the team for many years. Those arguments apply to Rodgers as well. However, despite my objections, I must admit I enjoyed the first half of that Favre season when we were winning. I wouldn't mind getting that feeling again, sort of like hiring a prostitute. It'll feel good now, but I'll hate myself in the morning.
Damn, I never even thought about It that way. It will take a #12 to finally remove the curse of #12. I'm down. Yeah, I'm down. lol
I thought the very same thing. The curse is toast when a new QB number 12 takes the Jets to the Promised Land. Then it's a whole new ballgame.
In a perfect world, Rogers comes here and: 1) plays very well handing off to Breece Hall, throwing to Mims, Moore, and Garrett along with Ruckert and Uzomah. Jets (finally) beat Bills, Miami, and Pats, at least once each. 2) Jets win AFCE and makes the AFCCG (outcome of this game to be revealed later). Jets are one of the four teams playing this coming weekend. 3) Arron follows up a great 2023 with another great season. No one is talking about the Bills or Tua any longer. Belichick retires and Mac Jones is cut by the new HC, Adam Gase. 4) Zack Willson watches, learns, and matures. And slowly becomes the QB we all wanted way back in 2022. 5) After two great years, Rogers retires a NY Jet and hands the keys to ZW. 6) This is the big one: Joe Douglas uses the cap saving from Rogers retiring and re-signs Sauce, Garrett, Breece, Becton (who played great!) and Vera-Tucker. 7) This is a bigger one: Zack Wilson 3 years removed from the stench of 2021 and 2022, takes over for Rogers and we don't miss a beat. We're still a young team going for our 3rd ring in as many years! That, my friends, is a perfect world!
Perhaps a yes/no poll on whether the Jets today are only a QB away from winning the Super Bowl is in order.
Off topic, I know, but I hate the way the salary cap has made it impossible to hold onto all of your good players.
Green Bay's top two rushers combined exceeded the accomplishment of the entire Jets roster by 200 yards - Rodgers can overcome that all by himself?
I believe he's missed one game in the last 5 seasons. No one is immune to injury but he has a good record of staying on the field and being productive.
Granted Father Time would probably step off the bench to make sure it ends in failure, but outside of giving up a stupid amount of compensation for the guy, I don't see how anyone could be against it.... unless you're Zach Wilson's mom.... but even then
Are we just ignoring the fact that Breece Hall — the favorite to win OROY before his injury and a top 5 candidate for MVP — got hurt in week 7 and missed 10 games? Bam Knight, Michael carter, and Ty Johnson can’t even hold Halls jockstrap.
Have we convinced ourselves that we’re better off without a stud QB for a couple years because “draft picks and the future” and “He won’t make us a perennial contender” yet?
This fanbase is going to commit suicide if this doesn't happen lol if he goes somewhere else, the fanbase will pivot, Rodgers sucks, I didn't want him anyway, he's ancient, can't wait
