Where's there's smoke there's fire. So many sports analysts have been trumpeting Rodgers to the Jets lately Peter King, Ian Rappaport, Adam Schefter. Packers want to #1 picks. Douglas can probably do it for say a #2 this year and a conditional #2 or #3 in 2024. Rodgers cap hit in 2023 would be only $15.79 million and $33.54 million in 2024. If he retires in 2025 his dead cap hit would be $60 million but, he if waits to announce in June of '25 it would carry over two years. Rodgers is a superstar. The Jets need to compete with Burrow, Allen, Mahomes, Herbert. Rodgers can win the division for the first time in 20 years. I would bet with a player like Rodgers under center the team makes a lot fewer bonehead penalties. He wouldn't stand for it. With Hackett on board it's not hard to read the tea leave. Carr is solid too and also elevates the Jets. But, Rodgers in Jets green baby. Epic.
If Rodgers goes to the Jets and Brady goes to the Dolphins, then the AFCE is going to be must see TV. With Allen, Rodgers, Brady facing one another the battle for the division will be fun to watch. Even Mac Jones wasn't all that bad for NE. If this happens the AFCE is going to get their share of primetime matchups as well as the national game on Sunday afternoon especially games between the Jets, Bills, Dolphins.
$48M over 2 years for Rodgers doesn't sound bad, even for the higher 2nd year he would still only be the 10th highest paid and that is before any new contracts for QBs get added to the list To clarify, as it stands the Jets would not be on the hook for any dead money, if he played 2 seasons, and pretty sure the dead money would be much lower than $60M for the Packers
I keep seeing Brady being projected as a Raider next year. We also have to consider Miami might be in on the Rodgers pool, and of course the Raiders who would reunite Rodgers and Adams. Tennessee and Washington are two teams that might make some noise for these guys as well?
Good. I hope he signs with them. He's no better than a healthy Tua and I'd love to see the Jets flatten that fuck twice a year.
The Dolphins are definitely looking to bring in a QB. Tua is still not right. He really should think about retirement at this point.
If Miami got Rodgers the same people that said they didn't want him would be like oh no, Miami is going to the super bowl
Knowing TGG, it would be posters calling for Rodgers who would then make up reasons why Rodgers wasn't worth it because The Jets Are Always Rightâ„¢.
There are more negative posters than positive ones, but the negative ones are right much more often. And it's the positive ones who are more likely to support something only after the Jets do it. You don't see negative posters in favor of something who suddenly switch to opposing it once the Jets do it.
Miami is an actual team that may be a QB away from a SB appearance. They also have a much better WR core than us. That's the only reason Brady would consider them. The guy has never had to play on a bad team in his career.
Ummm, not to be argumentative but really? They have better wide receivers than us, true but where else are they better? OL? Even that's questionable. Maybe for now but we can fix that, other than that we have a better total Defense, TEs, RB... If you can say Miami is one player away and we aren't I have to question your anti Jet stance, it's suspect.
Or maybe its because Miami actually made the playoffs and gave Buffalo a pretty good run for their money with a 3rd string rookie QB.
