    Okay folks

Hackett is here. A lot of talking heads are talking about possibility of him joining the Jets. Don't think cost will be too high for a 39 year old QB. Maybe a conditional 1st for 2024 or maybe a 2nd and a 3rd etc.

Regardless, let's only talk about this from a football standpoint.

Do you think he will work out here in New York? If so, do you want him or no? Let's go on record here please :)

    Yes. Yes and Yes.

He broke his thumb and still had 3700 yards 26:12 all while learning with young WRs. No brainer move. QBs aren't allowed to be touched, it's a different game than what it was 10+ years ago so these guys are going to start playing later and later into their careers.

EDIT - Just going to add this in.

Anyone saying that this is mortgaging the future is wrong. The future and time to go all in is when you have these young studs on rookie contracts. We don't need to sit here and mention who the studs are. I believe you can get two very good years out of A Rod while developing a young QB behind him to take over whenever his time is up.

Anyone voting nay is scared and comfortable with mediocrity. At some point you have to shoot your shot, this is that time.

An unfortunate yes. Clearly on the decline, going to cost at least one first round pick and most likely two. He’s hard to root for as a human and drama follows him around which is a great match with the New York market and this fickle Fanbase. But at the end of the day when you fail to develop two quarterbacks drafted in the top three over the course of five years, this is your best option.

My vote is “meh”. There’s a good amount of stuff to like and almost as much to not like. In my opinion, anyways. Given the choices I guess he works but he wouldn’t have been my first choice. My vote is literally “Whatever”

Threw for 3700 yards and 26 touchdowns to 12 interceptions with a broken thumb is throwing hand he had since week 5. To add, he was throwing to BOZOS this year.

    I'd wager Rodgers costs a 2nd and a 2024 1st rounder that's protected in case of retirement

There is certainly risk involved with a 39 y.o. player, but he's been pretty healthy his entire career, plus he sat for 3 years behind Favre so there's a few less miles on this "model". Also, as @dawinner127 said, the rules have changed a lot around protecting QBs so there's a good chance he stays upright, not to mention, he's learned how to get rid of the ball and avoid hits (something that Zach can def learn from!).

He knows the WCO, and he not only knows Hackett, apparently loved working with him, so there's a great chance that this offense gets remade instantly.

He'll be a great model for Zach to learn from (at least regarding on field stuff). He's apparently Zach's idol and I would expect ZW to be a sponge soaking up a lot of knowledge from a future HOF. I see this as being the move that paves the way for Zach to inherit the reins when Arod hangs them up...like Steve Young did after Montana. I suspect that Douglas thinks this too.

He'll love not having to throw 40-50 times a game with the expected run-heavy offense that Hackett likes and for which we have the pieces for (assuming everyone comes back healthy).

He's not going to cost a lot in relative terms, both in the way of acquiring him from GB, and paying him.

Barring catastrophic injury I see no downside to this.

I would be absolutely stunned if he’s traded for less than at least one first.

Read the article that @burf posted. Even without Rodgers this guy will be a huge improvement over LaFleur. Not all is dark my friend.

JD should be fired on the spot if he gives up a single 1st

I’m fine with AR. My issue is they seem to have made a move they think will entice him to force a trade here and in all my years of rooting for my teams stuff like this never works.

Then you realistically don’t want Rodgers here.

With Rodgers, we would see our best shot at a Super Bowl since the start of the 1999 season. I'm all in. I'm tired of waiting. This is our chance.
