JD is 20-45 over his tenure and what was supposed to be his strength has become a festering boil on the progress of this team. I'm talking the OLine. Yeah, there's been injuries but still, getting old men off the scrap heap only lasts for a short time. In this case, not even the season. He's supposed to be some kind of talent evaluator? He'd better get the f'n OL fixed or this will be his only contract. Saleh's seat is hot. JD's is starting to warm up too. He'll finish his first contract, but if this OL isn't fixed, he most likely won't get a 2nd.
This forum is so bipolar. JD sucks! JD is great! He blows! Wilson and Hall, He's amazing! He traded up for JJ. He fucking blows! AVT. He's great Its exhausting, lol.
in all fairness, this team had so many holes on it that you couldn't fix them in less than 3-4 years. see buffalo for reference. plus, a lot of fans heavily criticized gettlemen with the giants, only to find out this year that the players he drafted were not the entire problem, it was the coaches that the OWNER hired that were the vast majority of the problem. at least under douglas, that draft problem has been somewhat remedied......keep in mind that the first draft work was done under mc cagnon's scouts. rome wasn't built overnight. douglas should draft a center, tackle, and guard within the first 5 picks in the next draft, whole keeping late round picks from now on. funny how GB, NE, SEA and SF can hit QB paydirt from round 3-7.....
I think we need to keep in mind that its possible to just be a good GM. Its not an all or nothing game. JD had a bad 2020 (Becton return pending), a meh 2021, and an outstanding 2022. He absolutely has not been perfect, but I don't think he's been so bad that you get rid of him unless you have a legitimate game changing replacement. I give him an A for 2022, and a B- for his first three years. B- obviously isn't great, but who is the last Jets GM that was even that good? Probably Tannenbaum lol.
Tanny built one of the best rosters in the league and got us to back to back AFC Championships. Douglas has a long way to go before he can be compared to Tanny.
Dude is 20-45 and that is still a losing record for any GM. He may have drafted well in' '22, but on whole his drafts (and hires), has to translate into wins on the field. So far, its been a mixed bag at best. '23-24 is Saleh's last stand. JD will get his first contract but unless shit gets turned around PDQ.....
I'm referencing overall yards allowed and points allowed, 2 of the most important stats. They were #7 in sacks, They are a top 5 defense. Of course the defense could use a few pieces, but the offense needs the most help. I can't see them ignoring the defense completely.
Can you demonstrate to us right now that the Jets had an offer on the tablet for the #2? Not sure what you're talking about regarding the oline. They had injuries. All in all the line is solid if everybody comes back healthy, they just need a center and maybe draft another T depending on Max Mitchell's health.
Tanny also completely let the roster go to dog shit, though. I didn't like the way he constantly backloaded contracts. It made them lose a lot of decent players in a short span.
Seriously.. I follow many team and fanbase in other sport and Jets fans are the hardest to understand. They are constantly flip flopping. I gave him a C. Why? He whiffed in 2 draft in a row with many top picks. His last draft redeemed him a bit but the Jets need the best offseason in team history to put them back on superbowl contention. His biggest failure? Adressing the offensive line and Zach Wilson.
Due to the ineptness of their O, & Braden Mann, I would guess that opponent field-position (ie; they had a shorter field to navigate), played a part in lowering overall yards. They were good forcing FGs, as opposed to TDs, which was the Ds best trait, & why points were good. If you watched the D this season, especially after the bye, they couldn't stop the run; created few if any turnovers; and often couldn't make critical stops. If management actually thinks this is a top-5 D, they'll be missing weaknesses, & we'll be in for a long season, no matter what they do for the O. Unlike the Jets, most teams adjust to what Ds do, & exploit weaknesses. Opponents'll be studying this off-season. They need to fortify their run D, & safety position. If they're #1 pick, turned out to be a safety, & they signed/traded for Orlando Brown Jr, I'd be a happy camper. .
How could anyone rate Joe Douglas a "B" ..you must be in in complete denial lah lah land or both decisions decisions His 2 most important decisions that make or break a Football Team >>>QB and HC have been complete dogshit..easily a fireable offense FTMR It is incredibly hurtful : A..We don't have Trevor Lawrence and B..Douglas failed to hire D Peterson when he was available OTOH maybe JD tried but they said NO to Woody the Dumbass owner This cycle will never end till the Johnsons leave DONT go to any Jets game ..let them feel some loss for once But if you do buy the yearly false hope you are just being stupid dumb and brainless to support this Franchise
I definitely agree that a safety and LB would be helpful. I'm still leaning to OL for the first round pick, but I'd get it if they drafted a safety or linebacker there. I agree the run defense should be improved in the off season, but as we've seen during the Rex Ryan era, a good defense is nothing if you don't have an offense that can take advantage. The biggest killers of defenses are offenses that constantly have 3 and outs and have them gassed by the 4th quarter. The Jets offense did that a lot.
Good point... I forgot to add the 3 & outs. I would probably do a big DT before LB. Big mistake letting Fatukasi walk after last season. He & Quinnen, with the improvement of the 2ndary... that would've been fun to watch. .
Disagree. Jets in a division with Stephon Diggs and Tyreek Hill. They had to be neutralized if the Jets were going to compete. Granted a DE can put pressure on a QB to make him hurry throws. However, guys drafted as edge rushers rarely get more than 10 sacks a year in their first year. Most never achieve that in their careers. Example = Hutchinson (who the Jets never had a chance at getting) - 9.5 sacks, Karlaftis - 6 sacks, Thibodeaux - 4 sacks, Johnson 2.5 sacks. Sauce Gardner was the right pick.
awful take I don’t think there are many who would agree that JD is no better than Mac. That is a bad take. Mac is not working in the NFL anymore after his shitshow here…and if we were to let JD go he’d have a job in days. How can you forget Mac’s shitty big money free agent deals to past their prime players like Bell…and we’re still stuck with Mosely’s huge deal though he’s played better. Mac’s drafts made no sense…no investment on OL, drafting non premium positions with premium picks, like passing over Mahomes and Watson to take a box safety because he had just drafted Hackenberg who never played a down. Jeez the list of crap from Mac is miles long, and you’re saying JD is no better? get real
