This option is likely to present itself. He has 7 good years left, AT LEAST. Problems this year with Titans had nothing to do with his capabilities, only his ankle injuries and lack of WRs.

Jets need only a smart, capable, accurate paaser, and he has all that. This team is built to win it all now. It’s been forever since Jets have had that good a QB- and he can likely be had at a fair price.

Nah. Not sure how the 7 good years left was calculated either.

Could do better and a whole lot worse

    79-66 record as a starter
    Career 64% completion %
212-108 TD to INT almost 2:1

with a QB like him, we would have been playing this past weekend...

He’s 15th all time rating among active QBs, and 24th all time.

of the top 200 seasons in the last 17 years (since the QBR stat calculated) The only active QBs that have had more than him are
Brady, Rodgers, Ryan, Wilson, Stafford, and Mahomes.

Dont tell me Jets are too good for him. We only need an experienced, accurate, smart QB to get this team where it needs to be.

Re 7 years, he’s a guy that takes great care of his body. In any event, all we’re looking for is a guy to lead this team the next few years- the rest of the roster is primed for a great run. Unless you know a cant miss prospect fir next 10 yrs ready to join the Jets…. We’ve been diwn that road.

Tannehill, Cousins, and Carr are all similar. Put up nice regular season numbers but fold in meaningful games. Good for people into Fantasy Football.

He doesn’t move the needle much, but he will get us to the playoffs.

He’s a perfect backup to Zach.

37-20 record with Titans (thats an 11-6 record)

Miami was a crap show of coaching his entire mismanaged time there where he was a .500 QB.

It depends on what the Jets plan is for Zach. Tannehill would provide good competition for him, as well as a good model for him to learn from if he loses to Ryan, but he would also likely give Zach a chance to win that competition. Either way, the Jets would get an upgrade at QB for a lot less than what they probably have to spend for a Carr, and certainly Jackson.

I'm not inspired by this choice, but I could see the Jets doing this.

He reminds me of a Mike White that can actually move.

Tannehill has proven he is a solid QB, but not a Super Bowl caliber QB. Saleh has talked about winning MULTIPLE championships with the Jets. If so, he won't do it with Tannehill.

He is an upgrade over Mike White and Joe Flacco and an upgrade on the play Zach delivered in 2022 though. Zach Wilson still has more upside, but the Jets could use Tannehill in 2023 for sure.

I wouldn't put Carr in the group--agree on Cousins/Tannehill equivalence.

Tanehill can run too--doesn't do it much but is capable. I like him as an option if he's available. Surely over Carr.

If Tannehill is at least $10M a year less expensive than Jimmy G, Carr, Lamar, etc. he is well worth the investment, especially if Jets do not have to give up much to get him. He is accurate, throws very few INTs, knows how to play in inclement weather, has playoff experience, has shown durability and obviously knows how to manage a high powered running game. At age 34, three good years out of him is not unrealistic. Not exactly a very sexy pick for the flashier fan base, but what have the sexier picks done for the team lately?

he would be a great option while the jets find the RIGHT QB to develop.

Some dont realize how good a QB he really is. Here’s his QB ratings the 3 years prior:

    2019: 7th
    2020: 4th
    2021: 8th

Get him at a fair price and let him drive the bus while you spend time searching for the real deal franchise QB of future.

Looks like he has one year left on his contract at a number that is reasonable for a starter. I don't know what it would cost in trade, but I can see this happening as a 1 year stop gap. Maybe sign White on top of it as long as his number is reasonable. I would still try to trade Zach. Need to turn the corner on him.

I can see it happening. Tannehill is good enough for Woody to say he made a move but not too threatening to the Mormon boys.

You bring in Bevell as OC, Tannehill as QB with the plan to give the interim HC job to Bevell at midseason if it doesnt work out. Bevell then makes the switch to Wilson at QB for the rest of the year. Steve Young would approve such a plan
