Davis, Braxton, Robinson, Shepherd. Honestly, it's a short list. QB is a rough spot. O line, I think most will walk or retire anyway. So not worth listing. Looking forward to what comes next. Team exceeded expectations. But peeked too early. They will learn to finish. Or the coaching staff is finished anyway. So why not root for them? Stealth
C'mon @Cman65 ! Mosely was the leading tackler. He may have lost half a step but he's still an effective Captain of the defense. I woulda thought he'd be your type of player.
The Jets gain nothing from cutting him as his salary is guaranteed. So there is literally no point in cutting our nose off to spite our face. If he plays next year, it's a bonus.
Well, Mosley USED TO BE my kinda player. Right now, he's always behind whomever is crossing the middle, stops precious few runs and makes idiotic mistakes at the worst times. Probably why he's leading the team in tackles as guys are always open for a catch or hitting the 2nd level on a inside run. In his prime or soon there after? sure.. Now after a few years? He's definitely not worth his '23 cap hit. We need a youth movement at the LB position. Younger and much faster. May be time for Mosely to consider that LB coaching position on someone's staff.
Yeah, Mosley was fine in 2022. Doesn't belong on the "Get Out of Town" list! Didn't he make the Pro Bowl?
@Cman65 is a tough taskmaster with keen insight as to player talent. He just happens to be wrong in this case.
Contract cuts, save $$ (don't restructure)--C. Davis and C. Lawson, possibly Berrios Because they stink--Robinson, Z. Wilson, A. Davis, Mann, Tomlinson Just not worth resigning--Fant, Flacco, Shephard, Joyner I AM aware of the cap ramifications--why hold on to anyone if they stink?
Right, but we have to make decisions on personnel BEFORE we see if Becton is matured and ready. They did that last season and look where we ended up. Becton can’t be counted on in any way shape or form right now. Anything he contributes should be a pleasant surprise, not something we’re counting on.
Forgive my ignorance if I’m wrong but wasn’t this what we were saying last year too? We all know how that ended
For sure we know the mistakes he's made. He's not been unlucky. I'd start by having coaching staff, conditioning staff and nutritionists micro managing his every waking hour. There's a growing consensus of opinion on here, probably borne of necessity, that cutting him confers no advantage as the fully guaranteed salary would be dead money against the cap. So it's pointless. In short keep him and build the line considering him as a member but potential non-starter / squad player. If he steps up and contributes we have a major bonus because there's little doubt about his talent.
