This guy looks good and sounds motivated, kinda excited actually. Says he will stay around the facility and go to non mandatory camps.
That’s good…and a much needed change from last year Hope he can come back and play up to his potential, but he can’t be counted on to start after missing 2 years
This is great, but it begs the question: Why wasn't he required to do this last year? And for that matter, did they require him to do it this year, or did he choose (correctly) to do it on his own? Because if the team hasn't insisted on him being at the team facility where his progress can be monitored and they can be assured of his total commitment, that's almost a fireable offense.
It sounds like the light went on, for the little guy! He'll still be only 24 when TC starts. And Breece & AVT said they'll be ready for TC. Now if only #2's light can illuminate in'23, things would be really looking good.

Unreal. In all seriousness, we heard the same BS last summer about how great shape he was in. Guy hasn't played a snap in 2+ years. As is always the case, this franchise is all talk and no substance.
What a boost it would be if he came back healthy and had a good season. They should in no way bank on that. He needs to earn his job and there has to be legit depth behind him. My thought it maybe he'll compete with Max Mitchell for the RT job It's great to see and hear these things about him, but taking it lightly.
I don’t care what he says or how he looks, if JD goes into next season with Becton penciled as the starter then they all need to be thrown out the front door. Sign or draft a start for both LT and RT, Becton can compete for the position if he stops stuffing his face and actually shows he’s committed.
Unless something drastic is done, the Jets DOA offense will be on the field for only about 20-25 minutes per game, so at least Becton's chances of getting injured again will be reduced from a statistical standpoint. The Bad News: The Jets cannot rely on such a huge question mark to help fix this shambles of an OL. The Good News: For the time being, the huge question mark is not quite as huge, for the time being.
We have no choice but to root for him. He actually looks much healthier and skinnier. He never was injured in college, nor was AVT. having a stable QB will help. He is LT1 and our round 1 pick will start at RT and back him up. I feel good about Becton now for some reason.
Just watched his presser today... seems like he's gotten his head on straight, & realized he needed to lose weight to take the stress off his knees.
I hope he succeeds, but he needs to be penciled in as no higher than the third tackle when next season starts.
Again, sounds good. But if they go into next season counting on Becton's words, they should be fired.
Would most Jets fans want Becton to be in shape and ready for the 2023 season? Of course. Would most Jets fans have blind faith in this eventuality actually taking place? Of course not. I hope he has matured and genuinely dropped the excess weight. In which case good news but I would still recruit at that position. I suspect the timing of this press release, one day after the season finishes, may be instructive.
